Helps children stay safe when using AI tools online Safety AI – Keep Your Kids Safe on AI Websites Safety AI is a parental control extension designed to protect children while they explore AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and more. Key Features: • Safe Mode – Monitors AI websites and scans for harmful or inappropriate content in real-time using keyword detection. • Screen Time Tracking – Tracks daily usage on AI sites with hourly breakdowns and historical charts (1 Day / 7 Days / 30 Days / 1 Year views). • Daily Time Limits – Set a daily usage cap; the extension blocks access once the limit is reached. • AI Site Management – Control which AI sites are allowed or blocked. Add custom sites beyond the built-in list. • Parent Password Protection – All settings are locked behind a parent password using PBKDF2 encryption. A 60-second inactivity auto-lock keeps settings secure. • On-Screen Timer Widget – A draggable, always-visible widget shows remaining time and safety tips while your child uses AI sites. Privacy First: All data stays local on your device. No external servers, no tracking, no accounts required. About Us: We are Team Safekids from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Safety AI was born at a hackathon where we asked a simple question: as AI becomes part of everyday life, how do we make sure kids can explore it safely? This extension is our answer — a lightweight, privacy-first tool that gives parents control without taking away kids' curiosity. We believe technology should empower families, not worry them. Team members: Anna-Maria, Harrison, Huong, Sofia, Terry, Tom.
