Description
A self-custodial crypto wallet built as a browser extension Xell Wallet is delivered as a lightweight self-custodial browser extension purpose-built for the Rubix Blockchain. Within the extension a user can create a brand-new Rubix wallet or import an existing one simply by entering a BIP-39 mnemonic phrase. Once inside, they enjoy unified management of Rubix’s native RBT token, any fungible tokens (FT) issued on the network, and non-fungible tokens (NFT)—all while retaining absolute control of every private key and the data that surrounds it. Wallet Creation and Recovery During creation, Xell generates a 24-word BIP-39 mnemonic and, from that phrase, deterministically derives the user’s private key, public key, and a unique Rubix Decentralized Identifier (DID). The private key is immediately encrypted with a PIN of the user’s choosing, ensuring it never appears on-screen or travels across the internet in plain text. Because the mnemonic is the single source of truth, the same wallet can be re-imported on any device—desktop or laptop—simply by re-entering the 24 words or importing file. User Onboarding Flow Terms & Conditions – A clear consent screen ensures the user understands and agrees to the Rubix ecosystem rules. Username & PIN setup – The user selects a memorable username and a secure PIN that will encrypt their keys and unlock the extension. Mnemonic backup – Xell displays the 24-word phrase with options to download, copy, or print. Optional verification step – The user may immediately confirm the phrase or choose to skip and verify later. Instant access – After these steps, the wallet is provisioned and the user is taken straight to the dashboard. Dashboard Features At a glance the dashboard shows the current RBT balance and, via built-in price feeds, its real-time equivalent in multiple fiat currencies such as USD and EUR. Prominent quick-action buttons let users Send RBT, Receive RBT, or Switch Rubix chains without digging through menus. A concise list of recent transactions lives on the main screen, while a separate Transactions page surfaces the complete historical ledger. Settings and Security Within Settings, users specify an inactivity timeout (measured in minutes). When that threshold is reached, Xell locks automatically, requiring the PIN to re-enter. From the same panel, users can update their PIN at any time or perform a manual log-out if they prefer. Web3 Integration & Background Operations Whenever a Rubix-enabled website requests a signature or token transfer, Xell intercepts the call, prompts the user for approval, and then executes the operation—even if the extension popup has been closed. This is made possible through secure background service workers and selective use of Chrome extension APIs: activeTab – Detects the currently focused site that initiated the request. storage – Persists encrypted wallet data entirely in local browser storage. scripting – Injects a confined script only for the duration of the approved action. alarms – Powers the auto-logout timer and any scheduled background tasks. Key Features at a Glance True self-custody: keys never leave the browser. Standards-based BIP-39 mnemonic for backup. PIN-encrypted private-key storage. Seamless cross-device import with the same mnemonic. Live balance display plus fiat conversions. Simple token transfers and searchable transaction history. Auto-logout driven by configurable inactivity timer. Background signing for external DApp requests, keeping workflows uninterrupted. Permissions Justification activeTab – Needed to read the URL and context of the site asking for a transaction so Xell can display an accurate confirmation. storage – Allows us to save encrypted keys, user preferences, and settings only on the user’s machine. scripting – Lets Xell inject a minimal confirmation overlay when, and only when, the user authorizes an action. alarms – Powers the session-timeout feature and other lightweight scheduled tasks such as periodic balance refreshes. Privacy Practices Summary Xell Wallet is privacy-first by design: We collect zero analytics and transmit no user data to external servers. Every wallet artifact—private key, public key, DID, balances—remains fully encrypted in local browser storage. We never share or sell user data in any form. The mnemonic phrase is the sole means of recovery; only the wallet owner can restore access, ensuring complete data ownership. Use-case highlights NFT marketplaces & launchpads – self-custodial minting, royalties on-chain, instant cross-device access. Blockchain gaming – DID-based sign-in; store in-game currencies, skins and assets under the player’s control. DeFi protocols – secure swaps, liquidity, and lending with keys kept in-browser.
