ScrapeDown is the ultimate tool for web scraping and content archival, designed to simplify your workflow and save you time. With a single click, ScrapeDown automatically extracts the content you care about from a web page, converts it from HTML into clean and portable Markdown, and seamlessly handles multi-page articles by navigating for you. Build your own digital library, save content for offline reading, or prepare text for your notes app—all with one powerful extension. --- Why You'll Love ScrapeDown: - One-Click Web Scraping: Stop the tedious select-copy-paste dance. Start the scraper, and let it do the work. - Automatic Multi-Page Navigation: ScrapeDown intelligently finds and clicks the "Next Page" button to capture entire articles, book chapters, or series of tutorials without any manual intervention. - Powerful HTML-to-Markdown Conversion: Built with the robust Turndown library, the extension transforms messy HTML into beautifully formatted Markdown (ATX-style headings). Your content becomes clean, portable, and easy to read or edit. - Fully Configurable Scraping Profiles: While ScrapeDown comes with examples, its true power lies in its customizability. Create, save, and manage scraping "profiles" for your favorite websites. You define what content to grab, where the "next" button is, and how to handle titles. - Fine-Grained Control: * Page Limiter: Set a maximum number of pages to scrape, giving you full control over the process. * Custom Delays: Configure a wait time on each page to ensure dynamically loaded content is fully rendered before being captured. * Advanced HTML Cleaning: Use regular expressions to find and replace unwanted elements or text before conversion for perfectly clean output. - Works on Your Terms: All scraped data is stored locally and securely in your browser. When you're ready, simply copy the complete Markdown content to your clipboard with a single button press. --- How It Works: 1. Navigate to the first page of the book or article you want to capture. 2. Open the ScrapeDown extension popup. 3. Choose a pre-configured Scraping Profile or create a new one by telling the extension which parts of the page are the content and the "next" button. 4. Click Start. 5. Watch as the extension reloads the page, scrapes the content, and automatically navigates to the next page. 6. Click Stop whenever you're done, then Copy book to get all the scraped content in Markdown format on your clipboard. --- Perfect For: - Students & Researchers: Easily archive academic papers, articles, and online resources for offline study. - Writers & Content Creators: Gather research and inspiration from across the web into a clean, unified format. - Developers & Tech Enthusiasts: Save multi-page tutorials and documentation from sites like McGraw Hill or other online learning platforms. - Anyone Who Loves to Read: Build a personal, offline library of your favorite blog posts and web series. --- Get Started with Customization: The power of ScrapeDown is its ability to adapt to any website. By using your browser's developer tools (F12) to inspect a page, you can find the CSS selectors for the content area, titles, and navigation buttons. Add these to a new profile in ScrapeDown, and you'll have a custom scraper tailored to that site forever. Each profile is a simple JSON configuration, which you can edit directly for quick, one-time adjustments. Install ScrapeDown today and take control of your web content!
