Open any file directly in your local IDE with a single click. # GitHub Dev Toolkit GitHub Dev Toolkit is a Chrome extension that seamlessly bridges the gap between the files and review comments you see on GitHub and your local development environment. Instead of manually copying file paths and navigating through your terminal, you can open files in your preferred local IDE with a single click directly from the GitHub interface. During Pull Request reviews, you can also translate comments instantly, allowing you to maintain your workflow without interruption. --- ## Key Features ### Automatic "Open in IDE" Button Injection The extension adds an **Open in IDE** button to the GitHub file view, repository tree, and the **Files changed** tab of Pull Requests. It is designed to work with both the classic GitHub UI and the newer **Files changed Preview UX**, ensuring you can jump to your local code at any point during a PR review. ### Jump Directly to Selected Lines If a GitHub URL contains specific line information (e.g., `#L10` or `#L10-L20`), the local IDE will open the file and navigate directly to that specific location. ### Local Project Path Auto-Matching Simply register your base workspace path in the settings, and the extension will automatically map the GitHub repository name and file path to your local system. * **Example:** If your base path is `/Users/me/Github` and you are viewing the `owner/my-project` repository, the extension resolves the local path as `/Users/me/Github/my-project/...`. ### GitHub Comment Translation A translation button is added to GitHub Issues, PR conversations, and review comments. In environments where **Chrome's built-in Translator API** is available, the translation is displayed directly beneath the original text. Since the original text is preserved, you can reference the translation while maintaining full context. You can select a target language for each comment, or set a default based on your browser language. ### Supported IDEs The toolkit supports the following editors and IDEs: * VS Code * VS Code Insiders * VSCodium * Cursor * Windsurf --- ## Configuration 1. Click the **extension icon** in the top right corner of Chrome. 2. Select your preferred **Editor or IDE**. 3. Enter the **Local Base Path** where your GitHub projects are stored. * *Example:* `/Users/me/Github` 4. Select the **Default Target Language** for comment translation. 5. **Save** your settings. 6. Open a file or Pull Request on GitHub and start using the new buttons. --- ## Usage Examples * **During a PR Review:** When you find a file that needs modification, click the **Open in IDE** button in the file header to jump straight into your local environment. * **Understanding Feedback:** If a long review comment is written in English, click the translation button below it to view the translation alongside the original text.
