Description
Navigate any page from the keyboard. Keyhop asks for no site access until you turn it on for a site. Keyhop puts a label on every link on screen. Press f, type the label, and you are there. No mouse, no tabbing through forty elements to reach the one you want. It is built for the way people actually read the web: you already know which link you want, and the slow part is pointing at it. WHAT IT DOES Press f and every clickable thing in view gets a short label. Type it to follow the link. Labels are always short — one key on most pages, two on dense ones — and no label is ever the beginning of another, so a link never fires before you meant it to. Cannot see the label you want? Just type what the link says instead. The labels turn into numbers, only links matching your words keep one, and you press the number. Letters filter, digits pick, and nothing is ambiguous. The rest of the keyboard: f, F, yf, gf — open a link, open it in a new tab, copy its address, or focus it j k h l — scroll; d and u for half a page; gg and G for the ends / then n and N — find on the page and step through matches J K t x — previous tab, next tab, new tab, close tab H L — back and forward; gu and gU to climb the URL gi — jump into the first text field; yy — copy the page address ? — the full key sheet Every key is yours to change, and any of them can be switched off. THE PERMISSION PART Most extensions like this ask to read and change your data on every website you visit, the moment you install them. Keyhop does not. It installs with access to no websites at all. When you want it on a site, you switch it on from the toolbar button, and Chrome asks you about that one site. Switch it off and the access goes straight back — Keyhop does not keep it, and does not keep a note of it either. Chrome's own permission list is the only record. It never asks for your browsing history, your bookmarks, or your open tabs. It can still move between tabs, close them and pin them, because those actions do not require reading what is in them. There is no server. No analytics, no telemetry, no identifier, no remote config, and no network requests at all. Your settings sit on your own machine. BUILT TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY The link-labelling engine is not loaded into pages you are only reading. It is fetched the first time you actually press a hint key. Scroll a page all day without pressing f and it never arrives. No stylesheet is injected into any page. The status strip, the key sheet and the labels each live in their own shadow root, so nothing Keyhop draws can inherit from — or leak into — the page. Find-on-page uses the browser's own highlight API, which means your matches are painted without a single element being rewritten. Type in a text field and Keyhop hands the keyboard straight back. Press Escape to take it again. Around 36KB, seventeen files, no dependencies, no build step, no minification. Manifest V3. Requires Chrome 119 or later.
