Zero-backend, privacy-first tab manager. Stash open tabs into named sessions and restore them anytime — nothing leaves your browser. TabStash — Minimalist Tab Manager Too many tabs open and no idea how to get back to a clean browser without losing something important? TabStash lets you stash your open tabs into named sessions with one click, and bring them back exactly when you need them — nothing gets lost, and nothing ever leaves your browser. WHAT IT DOES Stash All Tabs Save every open tab in the current window into a single named session, then close them all at once. Your browser goes from cluttered to clean in one click, while every tab is safely stored and ready to come back. Stash Current Tab Only need to park one tab for later? Stash just the active tab into its own quick session without touching the rest of your window. Restore, Your Way When you're ready to pick things back up, TabStash gives you two options: - Restore All Tabs — bring back every stashed tab across every saved session in one go. - Restore Chosen Tab — browse a flat list of every tab you've ever stashed, across every session, and reopen only the one you actually need right now. Full Dashboard Open the TabStash dashboard for a complete view of everything you've stashed: - See every saved session with its name, date, and tab count - Search across all sessions and tabs by title or URL - Rename a session to keep things organized - Restore an entire session, or remove a single tab from within it - Delete a session you no longer need - Export all your stashed data to a JSON file for backup, and import it back later — on this browser or another one WHY TABSTASH IS DIFFERENT Zero-Backend, Privacy-First TabStash has no server, no account, no sign-up, and no analytics of any kind. Every stashed tab lives only in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). TabStash never makes a single network request — your browsing history and stashed sessions never leave your device. What you stash stays between you and your browser, full stop. Lightweight and Fast No bloated settings pages, no onboarding flows, no upsells. Open the popup, click a button, done. The whole extension is built to get out of your way. Built for Real Workflows Whether you're a researcher juggling dozens of reference tabs, a developer context-switching between projects, or someone who just wants a tidy browser at the end of the day, TabStash adapts to how you actually work — save a messy window as a session, close it with confidence, and pick it back up later without hunting through browser history. WHO IT'S FOR - Researchers and students who open dozens of tabs while reading around a topic and want to park them without losing their place - Developers and designers who juggle multiple projects and need to switch contexts cleanly - Online shoppers comparing products across many tabs who want to save a "shopping session" for later - Anyone who just wants a calmer, less cluttered browser without deleting anything important TABSTASH VS. BOOKMARKS Bookmarks are permanent and require manual folder management. TabStash sessions are meant to be temporary working sets — stash a whole window in one click, and the exact tab titles and order are preserved automatically. When you're done with a session, restoring it (or a single tab from it) takes one click, and the entry disappears from storage — no folder cleanup needed. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Does TabStash sync across devices? No. TabStash is intentionally zero-backend — everything stays in local browser storage on the device you stashed it on. Use the Export/Import JSON feature in the dashboard if you want to manually move your sessions to another machine or keep a backup. Will TabStash slow down my browser? No. It has no background processes beyond a lightweight service worker that only activates when you interact with the extension. What happens to a session after I restore it? Restored tabs are removed from storage as they're reopened, so you won't end up with duplicates the next time you restore. Is my data safe if I uninstall the extension? Data stored via chrome.storage.local is tied to the extension. Export your sessions to JSON first if you plan to uninstall and want to keep them. PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED TabStash asks for only two permissions, and uses them for exactly what they say: - tabs — needed to read your currently open tabs so they can be stashed, and to reopen them when you restore a session. - storage — needed to save your stashed sessions locally on your device using chrome.storage.local. No host permissions. No access to the content of your web pages. No background network activity of any kind. GETTING STARTED 1. Click the TabStash icon in your toolbar. 2. Click "Stash All Tabs" or "Stash Current Tab." 3. Open the dashboard anytime to browse, search, rename, or export your stashed sessions. 4. Click "Restore Tabs" to bring everything back, or restore just the one tab you need. That's it — no setup, no account, no sync required. TabStash is actively maintained and built with a simple philosophy: do one thing really well, and never touch your data.
