Instead of hunting for a URL or leaving your current tab, Cache View surfaces historical copies in a single click, letting you see what a page looked like at different points in time. It’s built to be fast, unobtrusive, and reliable so you can verify, recover, or compare content without interrupting your browsing flow. The extension is designed for practical workflows. Open an archived snapshot alongside the live page to compare changes, recover missing text or images, or confirm when a statement first appeared. Researchers, journalists, legal professionals, and students will appreciate the ability to pull up a timestamped version for citation or evidence. Cache View also makes it easy to jump between multiple archived captures so you can trace the evolution of a page across days, months, or years. Privacy and performance are core priorities. Cache View only requests archived copies from the archival services you choose and does not upload your browsing content to third parties beyond those services. The extension is lightweight and optimized to avoid unnecessary background activity, so it won’t slow down your browser or drain system resources. Controls let you choose which archive provider to query first and whether to open snapshots in a side panel or a new tab. Customization and accessibility are built in so Cache View adapts to how you work. Choose a default archive source, set keyboard shortcuts for one‑click access, and pin the archived view in a side panel for persistent reference while you read or write. Visual settings such as compact or expanded layouts and high‑contrast modes ensure the archived content is readable and easy to navigate on any screen size. Cache View also helps you manage context and provenance. Each snapshot includes a clear timestamp and source attribution so you can quickly verify when and where the archived copy originated. When you need to preserve a particular state, the extension provides quick links to the archival services’ save functions so you can create a new snapshot and lock in the current page state for future reference.
