Back up, download, and duplicate your claude.ai Projects. Your data stays on your machine. Depot gives claude.ai Projects the three things the web app is missing: a backup, a download, and a one-click duplicate. It lives in a side panel next to Claude and works with the session already in your browser, so there is nothing to log into and nothing to configure. If you run more than one or two Projects on claude.ai, you already know the gaps. There is no way to save a project outside Anthropic's servers. There is no way to download the instructions or the knowledge files you carefully wrote. And there is no way to copy a project so you can test a second version of your instructions without losing the first. Depot fixes all three. WHAT DEPOT DOES Back up a project, or every project at once, to a zip on your own computer. Each backup holds the custom instructions, every text document, and a clean manifest, so you can read it, search it, and keep it forever. Download the knowledge you wrote. Your project documents come out as plain text files with their original names, ready to open, edit, or move somewhere else. Duplicate a project to test two versions. Depot clones the instructions and documents into a fresh project so you can A/B test your setup. It shows you exactly what it will create before it writes anything, and it never touches the original. WHY PEOPLE USE IT - Back up before you make big changes to a project, so you can always go back. - Keep an offline copy of your prompts and knowledge base. - Spin up a variant of a project to try a different set of instructions. - Move a project's material into your own notes, repo, or docs. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Depot has no account, no server, and no tracking. It talks only to claude.ai, using the login already in your browser. Your projects never leave your machine except back to Claude, which already has them. The extension cannot contact any other site, and Chrome enforces that for you. HONEST ABOUT LIMITS Custom instructions and text documents are captured exactly. For uploaded images, claude.ai only exposes a downscaled preview, not the original file, so image backups are saved as previews and clearly labelled. Depot never pretends to have something it does not. Works with Claude on the web in Chrome, Edge, and Brave.
