Tab Wheel is a lightweight browser extension designed to provide fast, ergonomic tab navigation. Instead of moving the mouse cursor to the top of the browser to click small tab titles or stretching fingers across complex keyboard shortcuts, Tab Wheel enables users to cycle through open tabs simply by holding a modifier key and scrolling the mouse wheel or trackpad. Users can switch active tabs instantly from anywhere within a webpage. The extension features built-in intelligence that automatically skips internal browser pages (such as the New Tab page, extension management, and the Chrome Web Store), ensuring users cycle only through interactive websites without getting trapped on non-responsive tabs. Users can also define a custom exclusion list for interactive web applications like Figma or Google Sheets where native scrolling is preferred. Tab Wheel offers five calibrated sensitivity levels, providing predictable control whether navigating with an Apple Trackpad, Magic Mouse, or a mechanical mouse wheel. The extension defaults to Option + Shift on macOS and Alt + Shift on Windows, providing a collision-free combination that avoids clashing with native browser shortcuts such as page zooming or horizontal scrolling. To navigate, users hold the modifier combination, scroll the wheel or swipe the trackpad, and release the keys on the desired tab. Settings can be customized at any time through the toolbar popup or preferences dashboard.
