Select any region on your screen to instantly scan and copy QR codes. SnapQR - Instant On-Screen QR Code Scanner Stop pulling out your phone to scan QR codes on your computer screen. SnapQR lets you scan, decode, and copy QR content instantly—right from your browser. --- Overview: Have you ever encountered a QR code on a website, in a video, or inside a PDF and realized you had to pull out your smartphone just to read it? SnapQR solves this frustration. SnapQR is a lightweight, privacy-focused productivity tool that allows you to scan any QR code visible in your browser. Simply activate the extension, draw a box around the QR code, and the content is instantly decoded and copied to your clipboard. It works on websites, images, paused videos, and even local files. Why You Need SnapQR: - 🚫 No Phone Needed: Don't break your workflow by switching devices. -⚡ Instant Copy: The text, link, or data inside the QR code is automatically copied to your clipboard the moment you scan it. - 🔒 Privacy First: Your data never leaves your browser. All scanning happens locally on your machine. -🖱️ Precision Control: Unlike other scanners that try (and fail) to find codes automatically, SnapQR gives you a "snipping tool" to select exactly what you want to scan. Key Features: 1. "Snipping Tool" Style Interface: Just like taking a screenshot, you simply click and drag to draw a box around the QR code. This ensures high accuracy even if there are multiple codes on the page or if the code is small. 2. Keyboard Shortcuts for Power Users: Work faster with hotkeys. Press `Alt+Q` (Windows/Linux) or `Cmd+Q` (Mac) to instantly trigger the scanning mode without moving your mouse to the toolbar. 3. Works Everywhere: SnapQR works on: * Standard Webpages * YouTube videos (pause and scan!) * PDFs opened in Chrome * Google Docs & Slides * Local image files (requires "Allow access to file URLs" in settings) 4. Toast Notifications: Get instant visual feedback. A sleek notification appears at the bottom of the screen to confirm the scan was successful and the text is ready to paste. 5. Smart Error Handling: If the image is too blurry or no code is found, SnapQR lets you know immediately so you can adjust your selection or zoom in. --- How to Use: 1. Click the SnapQR icon in your Chrome toolbar (or press `Alt+Q` / `Cmd+Q`). 2. The screen will dim, indicating scanning mode is active. 3. Click and drag to draw a box around the QR code you want to read. 4. Release the mouse. 5. Done! The content is now in your clipboard, ready to be pasted (`Ctrl+V` / `Cmd+V`). --- Privacy Policy & Permissions: We believe in transparency. SnapQR is open about what it does: - ActiveTab Permission: We only access the current tab when you explicitly click the extension icon or use the hotkey. We do not monitor your browsing history. - Local Processing: We use the `jsQR` library to analyze the image directly within your browser. No images are ever uploaded to a server. - No Tracking: We do not collect user data, analytics, or IP addresses. Common Use Cases: => Login Authentications: Quickly scan 2FA QR codes for desktop apps without using a mobile authenticator. => Crypto Addresses: Safely copy complex wallet addresses from QR codes to avoid typing errors. => Event Tickets & Coupons: Grab info from digital tickets or promotional codes displayed on web pages. => Education & Research: Quickly access links embedded in lecture slides or digital textbooks. --- Install SnapQR today and make QR codes useful on the desktop again. *Note: If you are trying to scan a local file (file://), please ensure you check "Allow access to file URLs" in the extension management page.
