Your snippet data is stored locally on your device. === HOW TO USE === 1. Set up SwiftClip When you first open SwiftClip, you can choose one of two options: • Create New Start fresh with a new encrypted vault. SwiftClip automatically generates a unique Master Key for your vault. IMPORTANT: Save your Master Key somewhere safe. It is required to recover your encrypted data, and SwiftClip cannot recover a lost Master Key for you. Keep your Master Key somewhere safe and preferably separate from your encrypted backup. • Restore Existing Data Already have a SwiftClip backup? Select your previously exported encrypted JSON backup and enter the Master Key associated with that vault. SwiftClip uses the Master Key to decrypt the backup and restore your saved data. 2. Create a snippet Open SwiftClip and click "+ New". Give your snippet a name, choose a shortcut, and enter the text you want to reuse. For example: Name: Email Shortcut: ;email Content: yourname@example.com Save the snippet and it is ready to use. 3. Start typing a shortcut Place the cursor in a supported text field and start with ";". For example: ;em As you type, SwiftClip searches your saved shortcuts in real time and displays matching snippets. You don't need to remember the entire shortcut. Start typing what you remember and SwiftClip helps you find the right snippet. 4. Choose and insert When matching snippets appear: • ↑ / ↓ — move between suggestions • Tab — insert the selected snippet • Esc — close the suggestions Press Tab and SwiftClip replaces the shortcut with the selected snippet directly where you're typing. 5. Search and manage your snippets Open SwiftClip to browse everything you've saved. Search by snippet name, shortcut, or content to quickly locate what you need. Press Alt + K inside SwiftClip to jump directly to search. From the SwiftClip panel, you can: • Create snippets • Preview snippets • Edit and update snippets • Delete snippets • Search your saved snippets 6. Protect your vault Every SwiftClip vault is protected by its own Master Key. For additional protection, you can enable an optional 6-digit Master PIN. Once Master PIN protection is enabled, you can lock SwiftClip when you are not using it and unlock it again with your PIN. The Master PIN is designed for convenient everyday access. Your Master Key remains the recovery key for your encrypted vault, so keep it somewhere safe even when you use a Master PIN. 7. Export your data Choose "Export Backup" from the SwiftClip menu to create a portable encrypted JSON backup of your vault. Your Master Key and Master PIN are not included in the exported backup. This means that possessing the backup file alone is not enough to restore its contents. Keep your encrypted backup and Master Key somewhere safe, preferably separately. 8. Restore your data If you reinstall SwiftClip, move to another installation, or otherwise need to recover your snippets: 1. Open SwiftClip 2. Choose "Restore Existing Data" 3. Select your exported JSON backup 4. Enter the Master Key associated with that vault 5. SwiftClip decrypts the backup and restores your saved data === PRIVACY & SECURITY === SwiftClip is designed around local encrypted storage rather than a remote snippet account. • Local data storage Your snippet data is stored locally on your device. SwiftClip does not require cloud storage for your snippets. • Encrypted local vault Your snippets and settings are stored inside an encrypted local vault protected with AES-256-GCM encryption. • Unique Master Key Each vault uses a randomly generated 256-bit Master Key. • Optional Master PIN A 6-digit Master PIN can provide an additional layer of protection for everyday access to SwiftClip. • Encrypted portable backups Exported backups contain the encrypted vault, but do not contain your Master Key or Master PIN. • Local-first operation Core snippet storage, search, encryption, backup, and recovery are handled locally by SwiftClip. Your Master Key is essential for recovery. SwiftClip cannot recover a lost Master Key for you. === BUILT FOR REPEATED TEXT === SwiftClip is useful anywhere you find yourself typing the same things again and again: • Job applications and forms • Email addresses and contact information • Names and addresses • Frequently used replies • Templates • Application details • Code snippets • Repeated notes and phrases • Other text you use every day Save it once.
