Attention Guard - Focus & Pomodoro Assistant

Description

Turn "just one video" impulses into deep-focus work sessions with an always-visible browser focus timer. Attention Guard – turn “just one video” impulses into deep-focus work sessions. If every important task somehow ends with you on YouTube or doomscrolling “just for a minute”, Attention Guard is built for you. It doesn’t shame you and it doesn’t hard-block the internet – instead, it catches that impulse in real time and gently guides you back to what you meant to do. What Attention Guard does – Always-visible floating timer overlay on every website – your focus anchor right where distractions live. – Pomodoro-style work and break blocks – short, clear sessions that make starting work feel manageable. – Panic Button – for the exact moment you feel the urge to escape into a video or feed. – Custom motivational content – your own text, images, or audio that remind you why you’re doing the work. How it helps your impulse control and attention span Attention Guard is designed for people whose attention easily collapses into instant gratification. When work feels uncomfortable, it is easy to reach for “just one video” or a quick scroll that quietly turns into half an hour or more. Instead of letting that impulse drag you away, Attention Guard creates a tiny, intentional pause. You hit Panic, your timer pauses, and you see your own future-focused reminders – text, images, or even your own voice – before returning with a single “Back to Focus” click. By breaking work into short intervals and keeping a visible timer on screen, Attention Guard makes it easier to tolerate discomfort, resist impulses, and stay aligned with your real goals – even if your attention span feels short or jumpy. Key features Floating focus panel – Always on top of websites – Draggable, with position remembered – Expanded mode with full controls and progress – Minimal mini-bar for low-visual-noise focus Persistent, cross-tab timer – Timer survives page navigation in the same tab – State is synchronized across tabs and windows – Accurate countdown based on real elapsed time – Keeps your focus session “alive” across browsing Pomodoro-style cycles – Configurable work duration (1–99 minutes) – Configurable break duration (1–99 minutes) – Configurable break duration (1–99 minutes) – Configurable number of blocks per session (1–99) – Automatic progression: Work → Break → Next block – Clear block indicator like “Block 1/4”, “Block 2/4” Panic Button system – Built for the exact moment an impulse hits – Pauses the timer and your current focus session – Shows your custom motivational texts (reminders, goals, notes to future self) – Optional image support stored locally (vision board, goals, reminders) – Optional audio support stored locally (for example your own voice telling you to stay on track) – Clear “Back to Focus” button to resume your work session – Optional “I Quit” to fully disable the panel when you genuinely choose to stop Adaptive mini-bar – Automatically switches between light and dark styles – Analyzes the page background to stay visible on any site – Lets you keep the timer in view without covering your content Local, private, and safe – All data stored locally in your browser – No accounts, no tracking, no external servers – Your settings, panic content, and media never leave your device – Works offline once installed Who Attention Guard is for – Knowledge workers, students, developers, and creators who “accidentally” end up watching videos or scrolling social feeds whenever their work gets uncomfortable. – People with short attention spans who benefit more from short, well-defined sprints than from long, vague blocks of time. – Anyone who wants a gentle, psychologically informed tool against procrastination, not another aggressive website blocker. If your work sessions keep turning into “just one more episode”, “just one more match”, or “just a quick scroll”, Attention Guard is designed to meet you exactly there. Quick start Install Attention Guard. Open any website – the floating panel appears in the corner. Open settings and set your preferred work and break times, plus the number of blocks. Press Play to start your first focus block. When the urge to escape hits, press Panic instead of opening a new tab. Read or watch your own motivational content, then click “Back to Focus” to resume. Attention Guard does not try to turn you into a machine. It assumes you have real impulses, real distractions, and a limited attention span. Its job is to give you just enough structure and just enough interruption at the right time so that you can still show up for the goals that actually matter to you.
