A Chrome extension to combat mindless scrolling on infinite-scroll websites. The Scroll Breaker: Reclaim Your Focus Are you tired of losing hours to the endless scroll on social media and news sites? Do you find yourself mindlessly scrolling through feeds, only to look up and wonder where the time went? It's time to break the cycle. Introducing The Scroll Breaker, the smart extension designed to help you regain control of your attention without drastic measures. A Mindful Nudge, Not an Aggressive Blocker Unlike other productivity tools that act as a sledgehammer by completely blocking websites, The Scroll Breaker is a scalpel. It targets the specific behavior of mindless scrolling, leaving you free to use sites with intention. We help you build healthier, more mindful browsing habits by gently interrupting the hypnotic state of the infinite scroll. How It Works It's simple and completely customizable: Set Your "Scrolling Budget": You decide how much active scrolling time (in minutes) you want to allow for specific websites like X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, and any other site you choose to add. Scroll with Intention: The extension's smart tracker measures only your active scrolling time. If you stop to read or watch a video, the timer pauses automatically. Receive a Gentle Nudge: Once your budget is used up, the page will gently fade, and a calm message will appear. This "break" is your moment to pause, breathe, and make a conscious choice: either close the tab or dismiss the message to continue. Track Your Progress: Our Analytics Dashboard shows you how many times you've successfully broken the scroll, giving you positive reinforcement and motivating you to stay mindful. Key Features Fully Customizable Site List: Add any website you find yourself endlessly scrolling on. Enable or disable tracking for each site with a single click. Adjustable Time Limits: Set a unique scrolling time limit for every site in your list, tailored to your personal goals. Personalized Break Messages: Customize the messages that appear when you've hit your limit. Remind yourself of your goals with your own words! Analytics Dashboard: Visualize your success! See your total breaks taken and review your break history to see how your habits are improving over time. "Strict Mode": For those who need an extra push, our optional Strict Mode hides the "Dismiss" button for 10 seconds, giving you a powerful moment to reflect on your browsing intentions. Smart Defaults: Comes pre-configured with sensible defaults for popular sites like LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook to get you started right away. Your Privacy is Our #1 Priority We believe that your browsing data is yours and yours alone. That's why The Scroll Breaker is built with a privacy-first commitment: 100% Local Processing: All tracking and calculations happen exclusively on your computer. No Data Collection, Ever: This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any of your browsing data or personal information to any external server. What happens in your browser stays in your browser. Who is This For? The Scroll Breaker is perfect for digitally-aware professionals, students, and anyone who wants to be more intentional with their online time but finds traditional site blockers too restrictive. Stop the mindless scroll. Start browsing with purpose. Install The Scroll Breaker today and take the first step towards reclaiming your time and attention!
