Scans Terms of Service, EULAs & Privacy Policies for unfair clauses. Flags risks under EU, UK & Australian consumer protection law. Automatically detects risky terms under ACL/CRA & EU consumer law in Terms of Service and EULAs. PROT automatically scans Terms of Service, Privacy Policies, and EULAs as you browse — flagging potentially risky clauses, hidden traps, and potential consumer rights violations before you agree to them. No more signing away your rights without knowing it. PROT reads the fine print so you don't have to. 🔍 What PROT Detects: PROT identifies over 30 types of risky contract clauses in real time, including: - Unilateral termination clauses — accounts suspended or closed without notice or cause - No-refund and all-sales-final policies — hidden non-refundable terms - Broad liability waivers — companies disclaiming responsibility for damages or data breaches - Forced arbitration and class action waivers — stripping your right to sue or join group legal action - Unilateral price increases — fees raised without your consent - Data selling and third-party data sharing — your personal data shared or sold to advertisers and data brokers - Funds freezing clauses — fintech and payment platforms that can hold or seize your money - Retroactive terms — new rules applied to your past behaviour - Surveillance and activity monitoring — broad consent to track your messages and actions - Virtual item forfeiture — in-game purchases and currencies lost on account bans - Perpetual content licences — irrevocable rights over your uploaded content - Survival clauses — obligations that follow you even after you cancel - Implicit consent via continued use — agreeing to new terms just by staying on a site - Sole discretion clauses — unchecked company power with no accountability And new clause types are added every day. ⚖️ Grounded in Real Consumer Law: PROT's detection engine is built on actual consumer protection legislation: 🇦🇺 Australian Consumer Law (ACL) 🇬🇧 UK Consumer Rights Act (CRA 2015) 🇪🇺 EU Unfair Contract Terms Directive (93/13/EEC) 🌍 GDPR and global privacy law 💰 MiFID II / ASIC (financial services) Every flagged clause includes a plain-English explanation of why it may be problematic and which consumer protection framework applies. Coverage is continuously expanding. PROT's analysis is structured around the three pillars most consumer-forward jurisdictions care about most: - Power Differential — the imbalance of power between the company and the user in the contract - Litigation Lockout — attempts to prevent consumers from seeking a remedy or joining class actions (especially critical in the US) - Remedy Risk — what the user stands to lose if the contract is terminated: no refund, no recourse, no reasonable remedy 📚 Public Clause Library: Browse PROT's growing public clause library, a searchable database of real-world risky clauses drawn from live Terms of Service and EULAs across industries. See exactly how companies write these clauses and understand what they mean for your rights. Extended access available on Plus. 📋 Contract Following: Never miss a Terms of Service change again. PROT's contract following system monitors services you've agreed to and alerts you whenever their Terms of Service or Privacy Policy is updated, so companies can't quietly change the rules without you knowing. Available on Plus and Pro. Note: Contract following is in beta, a lot of websites block the ability for it to actively scan and monitor contract text. A work around is in development. 📊 Features: - Automatic detection — works silently as you browse Terms of Service, EULAs, and Privacy Policies (Free) - Severity ratings — issues ranked as Nuclear, High, Medium, or Low risk (Free) Inline highlights — risky clauses highlighted directly on the page with tooltips (Free) - Public clause library — searchable database of real clause examples from live ToS documents (Free, extended on Plus) - Multi-jurisdiction support — Australia, EU, UK, US and more (Free) - Privacy first — all analysis runs locally in your browser; no document content is ever transmitted or stored (Free) - Contract following — get notified when a service updates its Terms of Service or Privacy Policy (Plus and Pro) - Recursive Risk analysis — layered clause analysis for deeper risk detection (Plus) - Full analysis reports — detailed breakdown with legal context and recommendations (Plus and Pro) - PDF and JSON export — save and share reports with legal advisors (Pro) Risk heatmap — visual contract risk analysis (Pro) 🔒 Your Privacy is Protected: PROT never sends the text of documents you analyse to any server.
