Standard web typography often prioritizes aesthetics over accessibility, leading to visual stress, letter flipping, and "swimming" text. The **Dyslexia Font Injector** is a powerful, lightweight, and intuitive Chrome extension designed to solve these problems by giving you complete control over how text is displayed on any website you visit. Our mission is simple: to make the digital world more accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of how they process written information. By leveraging scientifically-informed typefaces and providing granular control over text layout, the Dyslexia Font Injector helps reduce cognitive load, improve reading speed, and enhance overall comprehension. --- ## Key Features ### 1. Specialized Dyslexia-Friendly Typefaces The cornerstone of our extension is the integration of high-quality, dyslexia-specific fonts. * **OpenDyslexic (Integrated):** This revolutionary typeface is designed specifically to mitigate some of the common reading errors caused by dyslexia. Each letter has a heavy weighted bottom to add a kind of "gravity" to the characters. This helps the brain anchor the orientation of the letters, making it significantly harder for them to flip or rotate in your mind. * **Lexie Readable:** A clean and professional alternative that maintains high legibility by using distinct shapes for frequently confused letters like 'b' and 'd'. * **System Sans-Serif:** Prefer a more traditional look? You can easily switch to a clean, system-standard sans-serif font that removes the visual clutter of serifs, providing a smoother reading path. ### 2. Granular Spacing and Size Adjustments No two readers are the same. That's why we provide three essential sliders to fine-tune your reading environment: * **Font Size Increase:** Boost text size by up to 50% without breaking page layouts. Larger text can significantly reduce eye strain and help focus on individual words. * **Line Spacing Control:** Increase the vertical distance between lines (up to 3.0x). Extra white space between lines prevents "line skipping" and helps your eyes track from the end of one line to the beginning of the next. * **Letter Spacing Control:** Adjust the gaps between individual letters. Increased letter spacing (kerning) can help prevent letters from "crowding" together, a common issue that causes text to blur for dyslexic readers. ### 3. Real-Time, Universal Application With a single click, your settings are applied instantly across all open tabs. There's no need to refresh pages or wait for slow scripts. The Dyslexia Font Injector works seamlessly on blogs, news sites, social media, and even complex web applications. ### 4. Minimalist and Distraction-Free UI We believe accessibility tools should be easy to use. Our popup interface is clean, modern, and focuses purely on the settings that matter most. No confusing menus, no unnecessary bells and whistles—just the tools you need to read better. --- ## Why Choose Dyslexia Font Injector? ### Scientifically Backed Principles By anchoring letters with weighted bottoms (in OpenDyslexic) and increasing the "negative space" around characters and lines, we address the core visual challenges associated with dyslexia. These adjustments are widely recognized by accessibility experts as effective ways to improve reading fluency. ### Privacy First Your reading habits are your business. The Dyslexia Font Injector stores all your settings locally on your device using `chrome.storage.local`. We do not track the websites you visit, we do not collect personal data, and we never sell your information to third parties. ### Lightweight Performance We've optimized our code to ensure that the extension has a minimal impact on your browser's performance. It loads quickly and doesn't drain your system resources, even with dozens of tabs open. --- ## How to Get Started 1. **Install:** Add the extension to your browser from the Chrome Web Store. 2. **Open Settings:** Click the extension icon in your toolbar to open the Dyslexia Settings popup. 3. **Choose Your Font:** Select OpenDyslexic, Lexie Readable, or System Sans-Serif. 4. **Adjust the Sliders:** Fine-tune the font size, line spacing, and letter spacing until the text feels comfortable and clear. 5. **Apply:** Click "Apply Changes" and watch the web transform instantly! --- ## Our Commitment to the Community We are constantly looking for ways to improve.
