It is built for younger children and for accidental exposure — the search that turns up something it shouldn't, the mistyped address, the link from a friend. WHAT IT DOES - 15 filter categories, ticked on or off by you. Six are on to begin with: adult content, gambling, drugs, vaping, scams and ransomware. The rest are yours to choose: social media, gore and extreme violence, AI chatbots, proxies and VPNs, crypto, piracy, torrents, adverts and tracking. - Social media as one tick, covering the platforms children actually use rather than three separate boxes, not just the largest one or two. - A category for proxies and VPNs, because a filter a child can walk round is not a filter. Kept current from a list rebuilt daily. - An allow list that beats the category filters. Allow a site and every page and subdomain under it works — a school's homepage caught by mistake, for example. Filters catch harmless things sometimes; fixing it takes ten seconds. - Your own block list, for anything the categories miss. - Forced SafeSearch on every major search engine, applied to the address itself so no account setting can turn it off. - The adult-content switch inside a child's own social media account put out of reach, optionally, so it cannot simply be switched back on. - A 4-digit parent PIN on all settings. No subscription, no account to create, and no card details held by us. One purchase covers every browser and computer in your household. IT BLOCKS. IT DOES NOT WATCH. Most parental filters work by monitoring — recording where your child goes and reporting it back. In'Seine doesn't. No reports. No screenshots. No location. No history of blocked pages. No account, no server, no subscription. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is recorded, not even on your own computer. If you want monitoring, In'Seine is the wrong tool, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a missing feature. The child-facing block page is calm and unremarkable — no red warnings, no accusations, and no mention of what kind of site it was. A child who lands there by accident shouldn't feel caught. HONEST LIMITATIONS - A browser extension lives inside one browser profile. Install In'Seine in every browser your child uses. If they have their own computer account, it needs installing there too — or an administrator can deploy it machine-wide by policy, which installs it into every account automatically and makes it unremovable. - It covers browsers on this computer. Not phones, tablets, or games consoles. - Anyone with the computer's administrator password can remove it. Giving your child a standard account without admin rights is the single most effective thing you can do, and the setup guide shows you how. - Browsers installed as Flatpak or Snap packages run in a sandbox the lockdown scripts cannot reach. In'Seine still filters inside them; private browsing cannot be disabled there. - No filter list is complete, and some are thinner than others. The adult-content list runs to hundreds of thousands of domains and is maintained daily; the gore list is a few hundred, because nobody maintains a comprehensive one. Filters reduce what gets through; they don't eliminate it. - Blocking AI chatbots stops a child visiting them. It cannot remove the AI summaries that search engines now put at the top of ordinary results. - Windows and Linux only. Not supported on macOS.
