Export Slack threads and channels to HTML, PDF, Markdown, or JSON with images embedded. No admin access or API token needed. Save any Slack conversation as a real file — in seconds, without asking IT for anything. Slack's own export is admin-only, ships raw JSON, and leaves your images behind. Thread Exporter for Slack works from the thread you already have open, and gives you a finished document with the pictures still in it. ── HOW IT WORKS ───────────────────────── 1. Open a thread in Slack 2. Click the extension icon 3. Pick a format and hit Export That's it. No sign-up, no API token, no workspace admin approval, no account. ── WHAT YOU GET ───────────────────────── FOUR EXPORT FORMATS • HTML — one self-contained file. Images embedded. Opens in any browser, forever. • PDF — print-ready and paginated, for archiving, legal hold, or sending to someone outside Slack. • Markdown — self-contained, drops straight into Obsidian, Notion, or a git repo. • JSON — structured data for scripts, analysis, and imports. IMAGES ACTUALLY INCLUDED Screenshots, diagrams, and photos are downloaded and embedded in the file itself. Nothing breaks when the Slack link expires or you leave the workspace. WHOLE CHANNELS, NOT JUST THREADS Export every thread in a channel as a single bundle. Large channels are split automatically so nothing fails halfway through, and already-exported threads can be skipped on the next run. COPY TO CLIPBOARD Send a thread straight to your clipboard as Markdown, rich text, or plain text, and paste it into Notion, Google Docs, a ticket, or an email. No file involved. FILTERS Narrow any export to a date range, or to specific people. Useful when you need one week of one person's messages, not the whole channel. REDACTION Strip emails, phone numbers, API keys, tokens, and card-length numbers before anything is written to disk. Add your own patterns for internal project codes or client names. ── PRIVACY ────────────────────────────── Everything runs locally in your browser. Your messages are never uploaded, and there is no server to upload them to. The extension has no analytics, no account, and no tracking. The only network requests it makes are to Slack itself, to download the images in the thread you asked to export. ── WHO IT'S FOR ───────────────────────── • Support and success teams archiving customer conversations • Engineers saving incident threads and postmortems • Consultants and agencies handing off project history to clients • Anyone leaving a workspace who wants to keep their own work • Legal, HR, and compliance teams preserving a record ── NOTES ──────────────────────────────── Works with app.slack.com in Chrome. Reads only what is already visible to you in Slack — it cannot access private channels you are not a member of, and it grants no permission you don't already have. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Slack Technologies or Salesforce.
