Description
Auto Refresh tabs or web pages with the easy Auto Refresh Chrome extension, your auto refresher for websites ⏰ A timer you cannot see is a timer you cannot trust. That is the gap this Auto Refresh extension closes. While it reloads a tab on a schedule, a live countdown appears on the toolbar badge - 45s, 30s, 5s - then starts again from the beginning. You never have to wonder whether auto refresh is still running because the time until the next reload is always visible on screen. Control stays simple and deliberate. Left-click the icon to start the countdown for the tab you are viewing. Click it again to pause. For most people, that is the entire feature - easy auto refresh with one click to start and one click to stop. Right-click the icon to access everything else, including interval selection, indicator styles, and the global switch described below. Intervals are selected from a fixed menu rather than entered manually: 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, and 60 seconds, then 2, 5, 10, and 15 minutes. Fifteen seconds is the default interval, and fifteen minutes is the maximum. Auto Refresh Page is designed for pages that change during the time it takes to have a coffee break, not over the course of an entire workday. Choosing a new interval while the timer is running applies it immediately without restarting the countdown. Choosing one while paused saves it until you start again. Every tab has its own independent timer. The interval, running state, and indicator style are stored separately for each tab, allowing a dashboard refreshing every 15 seconds to sit alongside another tab refreshing every 10 minutes and a third tab that never reloads at all. That is the difference between per-tab refreshing and a browser-wide setting: enabling Auto Refresh in one place does not quietly enable it for every other page you have open. The tab title matters more than you might think. A badge only helps when you are looking at that tab, and the moment the page moves into the background, the icon stops telling you anything useful. For that reason, the countdown can also appear directly in the tab title before the page title, using whichever style you prefer: ● a shrinking bar (▁▂▃▄▅▆▇█), ● Braille blocks, ● moon phases (🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕), ● or plain digits such as [01:05]. When scanning a crowded tab bar, you can instantly see which pages are counting down and roughly how much time remains before each one reloads. You can disable this feature on a per-tab basis whenever you prefer to keep the title clean. Sometimes you need to stop every Chrome auto refresh at once. Whether you are sharing your screen, filling out a long form, or simply reading without the page changing underneath you, one global pause stops every active timer across the browser. Resume them later, and they all continue where they left off. Nothing is locked - you can still start or pause individual tabs manually afterward. Website monitoring is where all of these features come together, even though the pages being watched often have very little in common apart from changing without warning. A developer points automatic Chrome refresh at a CI pipeline status page and lets it reload until the build turns green ✅. An operations team uses auto reload for Chrome dashboards and support queues displayed on a wall monitor, where nobody is standing by to press Refresh. Someone tracking a product restock, ticket release, or price change starts an auto refresh website and walks away because that page will change exactly once at a moment nobody can predict. One mechanism, four completely different reasons to use it. Installation is designed to be effortless. The Auto Refresh download is small, and once the extension has been added to Chrome, it works immediately with tabs that are already open. There is no need to close and reopen pages or manually reload them before the first countdown begins. Your preferences are stored in your browser's local storage, so the Auto Refresh configuration you set up today will still be there tomorrow. The interface is also fully localized, with menu labels displayed in your browser language instead of defaulting to English. Common questions: ❓Does this Auto Refresh extension work on any website? ❗Yes. The extension controls the browser tab rather than the website itself, so it behaves the same way on dashboards, online stores, internal tools, and ordinary articles. ❓What are the shortest and longest intervals? ❗Five seconds and fifteen minutes. Longer intervals are outside the intended scope of this auto refresh tool. ❓Is there an Auto Refresh version for Safari? ❗No. This is a Chrome extension built on Manifest V3, so it works in Chrome and Chromium-based browsers but cannot be installed in Safari. ❓Can I pause one tab without affecting the others? ❗Yes. Simply left-click that tab's icon. The global pause is a separate action designed to stop every timer in the current browser session at once. ❓Does the timer continue after I close the tab? ❗No. Closing a tab removes its timer. If you reopen the page, you will need to start a new one. A good auto refresher should stay out of your way. It is less an application you constantly operate and more a habit your browser quietly adopts. The change is subtle but meaningful - once your browser automatically reloads web pages for you, it stops being something you constantly check and becomes something that checks for you. Set the interval once, watch the countdown, and let every page stay up to date.
