GreenAI shows you the estimated carbon footprint (CO₂e) of every prompt you send to AI chat assistants — live, as you type, and entirely on your device. A small badge appears above the prompt box on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity, updating with each keystroke. When available, Chrome's built-in on-device model (Gemini Nano) reads the prompt's meaning to judge the task and expected work, so image, video, code, and reasoning requests are estimated far more accurately than keyword matching allows. After the answer arrives, the estimate is refined using the actual response length. A dashboard popup breaks down your footprint by platform for today and the past week. Privacy first: all processing happens locally. Your prompt text is never stored, transmitted, or sent to any server — only anonymous metadata (platform, query type, estimated CO₂) is kept on your device.
