A gentle visual reminder that fades page color as you spend time on tracked sites. Downshift helps you notice when you have been on a site for a while — without blocking anything. Traditional blockers can make a site feel forbidden, sometimes intensifying the craving to check it. Downshift takes a gentler approach: instead of cutting you off, it gives you a quiet visual cue to help you decide when it is time to move on. Choose the sites you want to track and set a daily time budget for each one. Pages begin in full color. As you use your budget, their saturation gradually fades. When the entire budget is used, the page become grayscale. GET STARTED 1. Open the side panel and track the current site. 2. Set a daily budget in minutes. 3. Let the changing color remind you when your time is nearly up. Time counts only while Chrome is the active window and the tracked tab is in focus. Background tabs do not count, and time stops when you are idle. An audible tab can continue counting during hands-off playback, such as YouTube. Need a short break? Snooze restores the page's color for 15 minutes while the timer continues. Pause today stops tracking until midnight. Your daily time resets at midnight, and the page returns to full color. There is no subscription. Deactivate a device when you want to move the license elsewhere. PRIVACY Downshift does not collect your browsing history, send your tracked sites to a server, or display ads. Your tracked sites and settings are stored through Chrome. The extension contacts the payment provider only when you activate or deactivate a license.
