Description
Your AI reading companion for the web. Key takeaways, outlines, and critical discussion—helping you read faster and think deeper. ReadCue is a free AI reading companion that lives in a sidebar on the right side of any page. It won't read the article for you — instead, it works alongside the text to help you catch the key points, see the structure, ask follow-up questions, and scrutinize the argument, so you read faster and think deeper. Quick Summary surfaces the essentials, Outline breaks down the argument, and Chat lets you ask questions, challenge the piece, and reflect on it — AI as a reading aid, not a reading substitute. Whether it's a long-form article, a news report, a blog post, or a technical piece, you get help tailored to what you're reading, right as you read it. Key features: - Quick Summary: A one-line summary, key points, and reading tips generated in seconds, so you can quickly gauge what the article covers and whether it's worth a closer read. - Reading Outline: Breaks the piece into its section structure, main points, and line of argument, synced to your scroll position — click any outline item to jump straight to that part of the article. - Free Chat: Ask questions and discuss the current page with AI. Reference selected text directly, and ReadCue offers topic prompts based on where you are in the article. - Critical Review: Something feels off but you can't pin down why? Let AI surface hidden assumptions, logical gaps, and slant, ranked by importance, so you can judge whether the argument holds up. - Fact Check: When your chosen AI service supports web search, verify specific claims in the article on the spot. - Bring your own AI service, fully transparent: the extension itself is free — you call the model with your own API key, with support for direct connections to DeepSeek, Claude, and GPT, plus OpenRouter as an aggregator. Usage costs are billed to you directly by your chosen provider at their rates; ReadCue never touches or marks up that cost. Why you'll like it: Most AI tools want to help you skip reading. ReadCue wants to help you read with less friction and more insight. The ReadCue extension itself is free. It's focused purely on helping you read: right beside the text, ready to catch key points, answer questions, and flag anything questionable — and out of your way when you don't need it. Built for people who read long-form articles, research reports, and in-depth journalism seriously — helping you read faster and think deeper even on information-dense pages.
