Detailed description Synapse turns the pages you read into a personal AI memory — organized by project, searchable with natural language, and built on Cognee's knowledge graph engine. HOW IT WORKS Browse to any article, PDF, YouTube video, or Google Doc/Slide/Sheet. Click Cognify. Synapse extracts the clean content — via Mozilla Readability for articles, transcript extraction for YouTube, and native PDF export for Google Docs/Slides/Sheets — and sends it to your Cognee memory, tagged to whichever project you're currently working on. ORGANIZE BY PROJECT Create separate projects for each topic, research thread, or area of work. Each project maps to its own Cognee dataset, so your memory stays cleanly separated — no mixing your recipe research with your work notes. ASK QUESTIONS, GET ANSWERS Switch to the Chat tab and ask questions about anything you've cognified into a project. Toggle between Fast mode for quick answers and Deep mode for more thorough graph-based reasoning across your saved content. PERMISSIONS Synapse requests host access to all sites so Cognify works on any page you're reading, `activeTab`/`scripting` to extract page content on demand, `storage` for your settings and job queue, `alarms` to keep background jobs progressing, and `sidePanel`/`tabs` for the extension UI. Content is only sent when you click Cognify, and it goes straight to the Cognee endpoint (hosted or self-hosted) you configure in Settings — Synapse itself stores nothing on any third-party server.
