Overleaf Assistant brings AI-powered writing, editing, and brainstorming tools directly into your Overleaf editor. What you can do? Extract concepts — AI scans your document and pulls out key ideas, methods, and topics. Filter by type, select multiple, and use them as starting points for writing or research. Chat with your document — Ask questions about concepts in context, explore relationships between ideas, and iterate on generated text with full multi-turn conversation history. Smart insertions at cursor — The assistant reads the surrounding text and generates LaTeX that blends in naturally — matching tone, style, and formatting. Insert with one click. Writer mode — Tell it what to write, set a word count target, and get production-ready LaTeX generated exactly where your cursor sits. No more blank page. Learn your writing style — Reads your document and builds a profile capturing tone, formality, sentence complexity, math density, and more. All generated text can match your style at adjustable influence levels (Subtle → Strong). Image to LaTeX formula — Snap or upload a photo of any equation and get clean LaTeX code. Insert directly at your cursor. Structure from ideas — Dump rough thoughts, add section headings with word targets, define a goal, and get a structured outline or a complete LaTeX skeleton — generated intelligently based on where your cursor is in the existing document. Why install No more context-switching between Overleaf and AI tools. No copying and pasting. No teaching the AI about your document every time. The assistant lives in a side panel next to your editor and understands your project, your style, and your cursor position — so you stay in flow. Privacy: Sign in with Google — no separate accounts. All AI requests are proxied through a secure server. Your API keys and personal data stay protected. Works exclusively on overleaf.com — activate on any project.
