Monitor competitor Shopify stores. Get alerts on price changes, new products, and restocks. Stop refreshing your competitors' stores. Start getting alerts when they move. If you run a Shopify store, you already know the drill. You check competitor sites manually — scanning for price changes, watching for new drops, wondering if they restocked that product that keeps outselling yours. It takes time. You miss things. And by the time you notice a change, your customers already found the better deal. That's the problem. Ecommerce moves fast. Your competitor intelligence shouldn't depend on your memory. WHY TRACKING COMPETITORS IS SO HARD Shopify stores change constantly — prices shift, products appear and disappear, inventory fluctuates. But there's no built-in way to know when it happens. - Price changes happen silently — no announcement, no changelog - New product launches can go unnoticed for days - Restocks and sellouts affect your positioning but you only find out by accident - Checking manually doesn't scale past 2-3 stores - Spreadsheets get stale the moment you close the tab Most sellers either ignore competitors entirely or waste 30 minutes a day clicking through store pages. Neither approach works. ShopSpy solves this by watching competitor stores in the background and alerting you the moment something changes. WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES ShopSpy monitors any public Shopify store and detects changes automatically. It runs quietly in your browser — no dashboards to log into, no tabs to keep open, no spreadsheets to maintain. Here's what you get: Price Drop Detection — Know instantly when a competitor lowers prices. See the exact dollar amount and percentage change. Useful for matching prices or understanding their strategy. Price Increase Detection — Spot when competitors raise prices. This is your signal to hold firm or capture margin. New Product Alerts — Get notified when a competitor adds products to their catalog. See what they're launching before their marketing hits. Restock Alerts — Know when sold-out items come back. Useful for understanding demand patterns and supply cycles. Out of Stock Tracking — See when competitor products sell out. Identify their top sellers and potential supply issues. Removed Product Detection — Know when competitors pull products entirely. Could signal a pivot, a supplier issue, or a failed SKU. HOW IT WORKS 1. Click the extension icon and enter a competitor's Shopify store domain 2. ShopSpy verifies it's a Shopify store and takes an initial product snapshot 3. The extension checks for changes automatically in the background 4. When something changes, you get a browser notification with the details 5. Click any change in the activity feed to go directly to that product page That's it. No account creation, no onboarding flow, no configuration required to start. CONFIGURABLE ALERT THRESHOLDS Not every price change matters. A $0.10 fluctuation on a $50 product is noise. ShopSpy lets you set thresholds for each alert type: - Price drops: trigger on any change, or only when the drop exceeds 3%, 5%, or 10% - Price increases: same threshold options, or turn off entirely - New products, restocks, out-of-stock: toggle on or off independently Default settings are tuned for signal over noise — price drops over 5%, new products on, restocks on, price increases off, out-of-stock off. Adjust to match how closely you want to watch. ACTIVITY FEED Every detected change appears in the activity feed inside the extension popup. Each entry shows: - The product name - The store domain - What changed (with exact numbers for price changes) - When it happened Click any entry to open that product directly on the competitor's store. The feed keeps the 15 most recent changes visible, with full history stored locally. REAL SCENARIOS WHERE THIS HELPS Competitor undercuts your price: You sell a phone case at $24.99. Your competitor drops the same style from $26.99 to $19.99. ShopSpy alerts you within hours. You decide whether to match, bundle, or hold — but you decide with information, not after losing a week of sales. New product launch detection: A competitor adds 12 new summer products to their store. You see the alert the same day. You can study their pricing, positioning, and product photos before their paid ads even start running. Restock intelligence: A competitor's top seller has been out of stock for two weeks. ShopSpy alerts you when it comes back. Now you know their supply chain timeline and can plan your own inventory accordingly. Price testing detection: A competitor raises prices on 5 products by 15% on Monday, then drops 3 of them back down by Friday. ShopSpy captures both moves. You're seeing their A/B pricing tests in real time. Seasonal strategy tracking: Track how competitors adjust pricing around Black Friday, back-to-school, or holiday seasons. Build a historical picture of their discount patterns over time. Supplier change signals: A competitor removes 8 products from the same category in one week. That's not random — it could signal a supplier issue, a category pivot, or a licensing problem. ShopSpy surfaces the pattern.
