Save Reddit images in original format and full resolution. Bypasses preview pages, stops WebP conversion, upgrades to HD. Reddit Image Saver - The Ultimate Tool for Saving Reddit Images in Original Quality Tired of Reddit's image compression ruining your favorite photos? Reddit Image Saver automatically bypasses Reddit's preview system to deliver images in their original format and full resolution—every single time. THE PROBLEM WITH REDDIT IMAGES Reddit doesn't serve images directly. Instead, it uses a complex preview system that: - Wraps images in HTML pages instead of serving raw image files - Converts uploads to WebP format, often reducing quality - Applies resolution caps through preview.redd.it URLs - Makes downloading originals nearly impossible without knowing the tricks This is especially painful for photography, editing, and design communities where original quality matters. WHAT REDDIT IMAGE SAVER DOES Automatic Quality Restoration Accept Header Bypass: Reddit uses special HTTP headers to detect whether to serve an image or an HTML preview page. This extension removes those headers so your browser always receives the raw image file directly—no wrapper pages, no redirects, just pure image data. Preview to Original Upgrade: When you view a compressed preview image, Reddit Image Saver automatically upgrades the URL from preview.redd.it to i.redd.it—the original source. This single change can mean the difference between a 960px WebP and a 4000px+ PNG or JPEG. WebP Prevention: Reddit loves converting uploads to WebP to save bandwidth. This extension blocks that by removing WebP from the Accept headers, forcing Reddit to serve the original format (PNG, JPEG, etc.) instead of the compressed WebP version. Media Page Redirect: Reddit's reddit.com/media?url=... pages are unnecessary wrappers. This extension detects them and instantly redirects you to the actual image URL, saving a click and ensuring you get the best version available. DOWNLOAD FEATURES Multiple Ways to Save Right-Click Context Menu: Right-click any image on Reddit and select "Save Original HD Image" to download the highest quality version available. Works on all Reddit domains (new.reddit.com, old.reddit.com, sh.reddit.com, etc.). Hover Download Buttons: Simply hover over any Reddit image to reveal a convenient download button. Click it and the original quality image saves to your downloads folder instantly. Gallery Batch Download: Reddit posts often contain multiple images in gallery format. Reddit Image Saver detects these galleries and lets you download all images at once—all in original HD quality. Preserves Original Filenames: Downloads are saved with their original filenames from Reddit's servers, making it easy to organize and identify your saved images. VISUAL ENHANCEMENTS Better In-Browser Viewing HD Badges: See which images can be upgraded to HD with a helpful "HD" badge overlay. Instantly know which images have better versions available. Quick Popup Dashboard: Click the extension icon to see a quick summary: image count on the current page, gallery status, and toggle quick settings without leaving your tab. Full Options Page: Need fine-grained control? The comprehensive options page lets you enable or disable every feature, from auto-redirect to download button overlays.
