Save and restore named tab groups across browser sessions. # Save Restore Tab Groups: The Ultimate Tab Management & Persistence Solution Unlock the true power of Chrome's tab groups with **Save Restore Tab Groups**, the essential extension for power users, researchers, and anyone who wants to turn their browser into a high-productivity workspace. While Google Chrome introduced tab groups to help organize your browsing, it left out one critical feature: **persistence**. Once you close your browser or a window, those carefully curated groups are gone. **Save Restore Tab Groups** bridges this gap, providing the missing persistence layer that transforms tab grouping from a temporary session feature into a reliable, long-term organization tool. --- ### Why You Need Save Restore Tab Groups If you’ve ever spent hours organizing tabs for a project—grouping research articles, documentation, and tools—only to lose them when Chrome updates or restarts, you know the frustration. Native tab groups are great for a single session, but they aren't built for long-term project management. **Save Restore Tab Groups** changes everything. It allows you to: * **Save Named Workspace Snapshots:** Capture all your active tab groups with a single click. * **Restore Anytime:** Reopen your groups with all their tabs intact, exactly where you left off. * **Organize by Project:** Give your saved groups meaningful names like "Q4 Financials," "Vacation Planning," or "Dev Environment." * **Declutter Your Browser:** Save a group and close its tabs to free up memory, knowing you can bring it back instantly when needed. --- ### Key Features #### 1. Seamless Native Integration We don't try to replace Chrome's excellent tab grouping system; we make it better. The extension works directly with the built-in `tabGroups` API, ensuring that when you restore a group, it retains its original color coding and titles. It feels like a native part of the browser. #### 2. One-Click Save Saving your workspace is effortless. Simply open the extension popup, type a name for your current session snapshot, and hit "Save All." The extension instantly scans your current window for all active tab groups and preserves their state—including URLs, titles, and group metadata. #### 3. Instant Restoration Restoring a project is just as fast. Your saved groups appear in a clean, organized list within the popup. Click "Restore," and the extension recreates the entire group structure in your current window. It opens the tabs and automatically regroups them, preserving the original organization and color scheme. #### 4. Lightweight & Privacy-Focused We believe in a fast browser. **Save Restore Tab Groups** is built using the latest Manifest V3 standards, ensuring it is lightweight, secure, and energy-efficient. Your data stays on your machine; we use `chrome.storage.local` to persist your groups, meaning your browsing habits and project structures never leave your device. #### 5. Minimalist, Modern UI No cluttered menus or complex configurations. Our interface is designed to stay out of your way. With a clean, focused popup, you can manage your saved workspaces in seconds and get back to what matters most. --- ### Use Cases * **Software Developers:** Keep documentation, Jira tickets, and local environments grouped together. Save the group when switching tasks and restore it the next morning. * **Researchers & Students:** Group sources by topic. Save your research sessions so you can resume your deep dives without hunting through history. * **Digital Marketers:** Manage multiple campaigns by grouping social media dashboards, analytics tools, and content drafts. * **Travel Planning:** Keep flight options, hotel bookings, and itineraries in a color-coded group. Save it until you're ready to book. --- ### How it Works 1. **Group your tabs** in Chrome as you normally would (Right-click a tab > Add tab to new group). 2. **Open the Save Restore Tab Groups extension** from your toolbar. 3. **Enter a name** for your workspace (e.g., "Market Research"). 4. **Click Save All.** 5. **Later, click Restore** on any saved workspace to bring all those groups back to life instantly. --- ### Transforming Your Browsing Experience The "Save Restore Tab Groups" extension is more than just a utility; it's a productivity multiplier. By allowing you to treat tab groups as persistent workspaces, it reduces cognitive load and eliminates the "tab hoarding" anxiety. You no longer need to keep 50 tabs open "just in case" you need them later. Save them, close them, and breathe easy. Download **Save Restore Tab Groups** today and turn Chrome into the professional workspace it was meant to be.
