Translates page text and the words inside images, and reads them aloud. Recognition runs on your device. Caliptic Translate turns any page into something you can read — and hear — in your own language. Text mode — select text or click a paragraph. It is translated and read aloud. It also works on sites that block text selection. Image mode — pick an image and the text inside it is recognized and translated: menus, signs, screenshots, infographics. Live mode — no selecting at all. Whatever is on screen is read, the translation is laid over the original text, and each block is spoken as it scrolls into view. Built for comics and webtoons, where a page is split into dozens of separate images and picking them one by one is not realistic. Everything happens on your computer. Recognition, translation and speech are local; nothing you read is uploaded. The extension has no always-on content script — it stays inert until you click it. Text mode works on its own. Image and live modes read text with Apple Vision and therefore need the free Caliptic Translate app for macOS; the extension tells you when that is the case and links to it. 22 interface languages.
