Print Gmail™ Emails - Thread Printer with Attachments

Description

Print Gmail email threads with inline image attachments in a clean, printer-friendly layout. Free, no sign-in required. You need to print an email thread. Maybe for a legal matter, maybe for your accountant, maybe just for your own records. You click Gmail's built-in print button, and the result looks terrible - headers everywhere, broken formatting, images missing, attachments nowhere to be found. You try copying into Word or Google Docs. Half the formatting breaks. Inline images disappear. You spend 15 minutes fixing a two-page printout. That is time you should not have to spend. Printing an email should take one click. WHY PRINTING GMAIL THREADS IS SO FRUSTRATING Gmail's native print function was designed for single messages. When you print a thread with multiple replies, you get: - Repeated headers and footers that waste paper - Inline images stripped or broken - No attachment listing anywhere on the printout - Inconsistent formatting across messages - Quoted text taking up more space than the actual conversation Most people end up screenshotting each message, pasting into a document, and formatting manually. For a five-message thread, that is 20 minutes of work. Thread Printer for Gmail solves this with one click. WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES Thread Printer adds a small print button to Gmail. Open any email thread, click the button, and get a clean, formatted page ready for printing or saving as PDF. No copy-pasting. No reformatting. No missing images. Here is what you get: Clean thread layout - Every message in the thread is formatted with clear sender, recipient, date, and body text in a readable layout optimized for paper. Inline image attachments - Image attachments (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP) are embedded directly in the printout below each message, so you can see what was attached without opening separate files. Attachment file list - A clean list of all attached files appears under each message, so you have a complete record of what was sent. Quoted text handling - Long quoted reply chains are collapsed to keep the printout focused on the actual conversation. Print or PDF - The preview page includes a Print button that opens your browser's print dialog. Choose your printer or select "Save as PDF" for a digital copy. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open any email thread in Gmail. 2. Click the blue print button at the bottom right of the screen. 3. Review the thread summary - message count, attachment count, image count. 4. Toggle options: include inline images, show attachment list. 5. Click "Print Thread" to open the formatted preview. 6. Click "Print / Save as PDF" in the preview page. Six steps, but in practice it is two clicks: open the panel, hit print. OPTIONS Include image attachments inline - When enabled, image files attached to each message are displayed directly in the printout. Turn this off if you only need the text. This setting is remembered between sessions. Show attachment file list - When enabled, a list of all attached files appears below each message body. Useful for record-keeping. This setting is also saved locally. Both options default to on. Change them once, and your preference sticks. REAL SCENARIOS WHERE THIS HELPS Tax season documentation: Your accountant asks for email confirmations of deductible expenses. You search Gmail for "receipt" or "payment confirmation," open each thread, and print with attachments inline. The PDF includes the invoice image right in the printout - no need to download and attach separately. Legal discovery: You need to produce email correspondence for a legal matter. Thread Printer gives you a clean, timestamped printout of each conversation with sender, recipient, date, and full message content. The attachment list serves as an exhibit reference. HR and compliance: Documenting an employee complaint or policy discussion that happened over email. Print the full thread with dates and participants clearly shown for the file. Insurance claims: Printing correspondence with your insurance company, including photos of damage that were sent as attachments. Images appear inline so the adjuster can see everything in one document. Project handoff: You are leaving a project and need to hand over email history to a colleague. Print key threads as PDFs and organize them in a shared folder - cleaner than forwarding dozens of messages. Personal records: Printing travel confirmations, warranty emails, or important family correspondence for a physical file. One click instead of screenshot-paste-format. WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES NOT DO - It does not access your Gmail account or read your password - It does not send any data to any server - It does not modify or delete any emails - It does not run in the background when you are not using it The only permission it uses: - storage - Saves your two toggle preferences (inline images on/off, attachment list on/off) and the FAB visibility setting. That is all. No network requests. No analytics. No tracking. Everything runs 100% locally in your browser. WHO THIS IS FOR - Professionals who need to print email threads for legal, tax, or compliance purposes - Freelancers and small business owners documenting client correspondence - Anyone who has ever struggled with Gmail's built-in print formatting - Students printing professor correspondence for academic records - Anyone who prefers a paper or PDF backup of important email conversations GETTING STARTED Install the extension, open Gmail, and refresh the page.
