Save Instagram photos, videos, Reels, Stories, and full profile archives. OctoDownloader saves Instagram photos, videos, Reels, Stories, and profile archives to a folder on your computer. There is no OctoDownloader account and no cloud upload. Files you save stay on your device. This extension is for personal copies of media you can already open in your own browser. It does not bypass private accounts, logins, or paywalls. OctoDownloader is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. HOW TO START 1. Install OctoDownloader. 2. Open instagram.com and reload the tab (required after install or update). 3. Click the extension icon and choose a save folder once. Later downloads write there with no extra Save As dialogs. 4. Use the teal OctoDownloader controls on the page, or press the shortcut. WHERE THE BUTTONS ARE • On a post or Reel: teal octopus button next to Save / bookmark. One click saves the media. On a carousel, it saves every slide. • In the feed or on a profile grid: hover a tile and use the octopus button on that tile. • On a Story: “Download all in story” in the top bar, plus the octopus icon. • On a profile: “Download all posts” and “Download all stories” in the profile header. Full archives go in your-folder/username/. • Keyboard: Ctrl+Shift+D (Windows/ChromeOS) or Command+Shift+D (Mac) while the Instagram tab is focused. FEATURES • Local-only saving — nothing is uploaded to Netcode • Choose a folder once; Chrome remembers it • Single posts, carousels, Reels, and Stories • Download all posts or all stories from a profile you can already view • Skip files that already exist when archiving a profile (Options) • Preview Lens — browse, grid/list, sort, and regex-search what you saved • Progress toasts so you can see when a save finishes • Works in Chrome, and the same package loads in Edge and Brave PRIVACY OctoDownloader does not collect your media, cookies, passwords, or browsing history. It does not use analytics, ads, or crash-reporting SDKs. Settings and the folder handle stay in your browser profile. When you save, your browser talks to Instagram and its CDNs using the session you already have — not to a Netcode server. You never enter your Instagram password into OctoDownloader. There is no login screen for that. NOTES • Reload every Instagram tab after you install or update, or the buttons will not appear. • Some Stories, Reels, and full profile archives work more reliably when you are signed in to Instagram in that browser. • Private accounts you cannot open cannot be downloaded. That is intentional. • If Brave Shields blocks a save, lower Shields on instagram.com, then try again. • This is a personal backup tool. Respect the original creator and Instagram’s terms.
