Translate manga and webtoon text with local or manga-specialized OCR and your own OpenAI-compatible API. Read manga in the language you understand—without losing the panel. MangaLens is an AI-powered manga translator for Chrome. It detects text in online manga images, webtoons, and supported Canvas readers, translates it, and redraws the result directly over the artwork. Speech bubbles, narration boxes, vertical Japanese text, small captions, and text printed on the scene are handled as individual regions instead of one flat page. How MangaLens works • Translate Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and English manga into Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, or Brazilian Portuguese. • Use your own OpenAI-compatible Base URL, API key, and model for translation. • Choose local OCR for a browser-only workflow, or MangaLens hosted processing for manga-aware detection, OCR, original-text cleanup, and layout restoration. • Process one or two visible manga pages at a time, with per-page progress and lazy translation as you scroll. • Keep the artwork readable: MangaLens uses transparent cleanup patches and fitted text rather than covering every panel with large rectangles. • Works on common image-based manga pages, with dedicated support for Comic Days and Pixiv artwork pages. More readers are added over time. Free and Pro • Bring Your Own Key: use any compatible translation provider you choose; its pricing and privacy terms apply. • Free hosted processing: 40 manga pages per week. • 24-hour Pro, Monthly Pro, and Annual Pro: unlimited hosted processing under fair-use limits while the plan is active. Privacy by design Your API key stays in Chrome local storage. When hosted manga processing is enabled, MangaLens sends only the manga image region needed for detection, OCR, cleanup, and layout. Generated cleanup assets expire automatically after 7 days. MangaLens does not sell personal data, build advertising profiles, or use private manga content to train general-purpose AI models.
