Darkens light websites automatically — but only when your system theme is dark, and never on sites that are already dark. Most dark mode extensions darken everything, then leave you fighting them. This one stays out of the way. A page is themed only when all three of these are true: - your system appearance is set to dark - the site does not already ship its own night theme - the switch in the toolbar is on Set your computer to a light appearance and the extension does nothing at all. No filter, no flicker, no washed-out photos. Open a site that already has a night theme, and it is left exactly as its designers built it. WHAT YOU GET - Follows your system appearance automatically. Nothing to schedule, no sunset time to configure. - Leaves sites that already have a night theme alone, instead of fighting them. - Updates the tabs you already have open the moment you switch your system appearance. No reload. - One switch in the toolbar turns it off everywhere, instantly. - Applies to embedded frames too, including ones served from other domains, so a page never ends up half finished. - Includes 2,896 per-site refinements, so sites that the generic engine gets wrong still come out right. HOW IT DECIDES When a page loads, the extension measures the background the site actually paints. If that background is already dark, it does nothing. If it is light, and your system is set to dark, it themes the page. That check runs again if the site paints itself later, which is what single-page apps tend to do. PRIVACY No account. No sign-in. No tracking, no analytics, no telemetry. Nothing about the pages you visit is collected, sent anywhere, or stored. The only thing kept is a single setting: whether the switch is on.
