Export AI chat conversations locally as Markdown, JSON, HTML, or an evidence ZIP. Chat Trail is a local-first browser extension for exporting AI chat conversations from the current tab. It supports ChatGPT, Claude, and generic AI-chat-like pages. Exports can be saved as Markdown, JSON, HTML, or an evidence ZIP with transcript files, metadata, and hashes. Review and redact the transcript before exporting. Evidence ZIPs use the reviewed transcript by default. You can explicitly choose to include a visible screenshot and an HTML snapshot of the original page; these optional originals are not redacted. Chat Trail does not use provider APIs, does not require API keys, does not crawl your account, and does not send chat content to a server. Extraction runs locally in your browser and is initiated by the user.
