Set an independent volume, from 0 to 500%, for every tab and remember it per website. 🔊 Volume Tab Control — Chrome Web Store description Volume Tab Control gives every tab its own volume — from 0% to 500% — and remembers your choice for each website. Chrome's built-in control stops at "mute". This extension goes further: turn one noisy tab down to 20% while music keeps playing at full volume next door, or push a quiet lecture or interview up to 300% when the source was recorded too low. Set it once for a site, and every tab you open there starts at the right level. 🎚️ What it does - Independent volume per tab, from 0% to 500%. 100% is the original, untouched volume. - 💾 Save a level for a website in one click. The next tab you open on that domain starts there automatically. - 📈 Boost past 100% for sources that were mastered too quietly. - 🔇 Mute or unmute the tab, independently from the slider. - 🏷️ A badge on the toolbar icon shows the current level whenever it differs from 100%. - ⚡ Quick presets: 0, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 400%. - 📋 An options page listing every saved site, so you can adjust or remove them at any time. 🌐 Saved per site, not per tab Volumes are stored against the exact hostname, so `www.example.com` and `app.example.com` keep separate settings — handy when one company runs both a quiet blog and a loud video player. Saving is deliberate. Dragging the slider only affects the tab in front of you, and nothing is written to disk until you press "Save for this domain", so you can experiment freely without cluttering your list. Navigating a tab to a different domain drops the temporary setting and hands control back to whatever that new domain has saved. ⌨️ Keyboard shortcuts Alt+Shift+Up - Increase the tab volume by 10% Alt+Shift+Down - Decrease the tab volume by 10% Alt+Shift+0 - Back to 100% Alt+Shift+M - Mute or unmute the tab All four can be remapped from "chrome://extensions/shortcuts". 🔒 Privacy - No account, no tracking, no analytics, no ads. - The extension makes no network requests whatsoever. - Your saved volumes live in Chrome's local storage on your own machine and are never transmitted anywhere. 🛡️ Permissions, and why each one is needed Read and change your data on all websites: Required to adjust the volume of the audio and video elements on any page you visit. Only the volume is touched; page content is never read, stored or sent anywhere. Tabs: To know which site the active tab is on, so the right saved volume is applied, and to mute or unmute it. Storage: To keep your saved volumes on your device. Scripting: So that tabs already open when you install or update the extension start working straight away, without a reload. ⚠️ Known limitations - Audio played through an element that a page creates in JavaScript but never inserts into the document cannot be reached by any extension, and will not follow the slider. - Content inside a closed shadow root is likewise out of reach. - Chrome's own pages (`chrome://`, the Web Store, other extensions' pages) cannot host extensions, so tabs there are shown as unsupported. - Very high boost levels can distort, particularly past roughly 300%. That is the source material clipping rather than a defect — ease it back until it sounds clean. This extension has been made using AI.
