Translates the current tab's audio in real time and mixes the spoken AI translation with the original soundtrack. Echolate translates the audio of any browser tab in real time and speaks the translation on top of the original soundtrack — so you hear both, like a live interpreter. Open any YouTube video, live stream, podcast, or online course, press Start, and listen in your own language. HOW IT WORKS Echolate captures the tab's audio, splits it into phrases, and runs each one through your own Google Cloud APIs — Speech-to-Text → Translation → Text-to-Speech. The spoken translation is mixed over the original, which is automatically lowered while the voice-over speaks, then comes right back. Your audio goes directly from your browser to Google Cloud using your own API key, which is stored only on your device. GOOD TO KNOW • The translation trails 2–5 seconds behind the original — it works phrase by phrase, like a consecutive interpreter, which keeps it accurate. • You bring your own Google Cloud API key (a one-time ~10-minute setup). Google bills you directly for usage: free monthly quotas cover casual use, and beyond them it's roughly $1.5–2 per hour of continuous translation. • DRM-protected audio (e.g. Netflix) and browser system pages (chrome://) can't be captured.
