Opening a GitHub pull request, issue, or discussion you already have open focuses the existing tab instead of creating a duplicate. If you use coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, or Cline, you're used to clicking GitHub links all day - PRs, review comments, issues - and every click opens another tab. Before long you have fifteen tabs of the same pull request. GitHub Tab De-duper keeps one tab per PR or issue. WHAT IT DOES - Automatic de-dupe - a new tab that duplicates an open PR, issue, or discussion closes itself, and you land on the tab you already had. - De-dupe open tabs now - one button to clean up duplicates you've already accumulated. It keeps the best tab per thread (active, then most recently used) and closes the rest. - Comment links still work - a link to a specific comment jumps straight to it in your existing tab. WHY GENERIC DUPLICATE-TAB MATCHING DOESN'T WORK Generic URL matching treats all of these as different pages: github.com/owner/repo/pull/123 github.com/owner/repo/pull/123#issuecomment-98765 github.com/owner/repo/pull/123?notification_referrer_id=... This extension understands GitHub URLs before comparing: Query strings and comment anchors don't count as different pages. A PR's Conversation and Checks views count as one tab (configurable). Issue and PR links share one number space per repo. SAFE BY DESIGN Only newly created tabs are deduplicated automatically, navigating in a tab you're already using won't get pulled out from under you. The extension needs no account, injects no scripts into pages, and sends nothing over the network besides talking to github.com. Free and open source. Built by Cline
