Read Markdown beautifully. Fully offline, no account, no data collected. Themes, TOC, search. Mdown renders Markdown files in your browser — cleanly, instantly, and completely offline. Open a .md, .markdown, .mkd, .mdx or .mdc file and Mdown turns it into a readable document: proper headings, tables, task lists, footnotes, syntax-highlighted code, math and diagrams. No account, no sign-up, no subscription, and nothing is sent anywhere. WHY MDOWN • Truly offline. Every library is bundled. The only time Mdown touches the network is to re-read the file you are already viewing, when auto-reload is on. Nothing else leaves your device. • Private by design. Mdown runs only on Markdown files — URLs whose path ends in .md, .markdown, .mkd, .mdx or .mdc — on your disk and on the web (such as raw GitHub links). It does not run on ordinary web pages, reads nothing else, and collects no data. • Nothing is behind a paywall. Themes, fonts, column width, search and export are all free. READING, DONE WELL • 9 themes (light and dark), adjustable column width and text size. • Table of contents, and a find bar that searches the rendered text — including code. • A status line with word count and reading time. • Rendered ↔ raw toggle, and your scroll position is kept by block, so changing the theme or width never loses your place. FOR CODE AND DOCS • Syntax highlighting for common languages. • Math with KaTeX. (Prices like $5 and $10 stay as text — they are not turned into formulas.) • Mermaid diagrams, rendered off the page thread so a large diagram never freezes the tab. • Auto-reload for live preview next to your editor: edit the file, the view updates and keeps your position. • Copy for AI, Print, and Export to a self-contained HTML file. WHEN A FILE WON'T OPEN Most Markdown viewers show a blank page or a spinner when something goes wrong. Mdown never does. If a file can't be shown, it explains exactly why — the browser's file-access switch is off, or the server sent the file as a download instead of a page — and offers one clear action to fix it.
