It records browsing time per domain and separates active use from inactive (idle) time, so an open tab while you are away does not count as real work. ACTIVE VS INACTIVE • Active — you use the keyboard or mouse while Chrome is focused • Inactive — Chrome is focused, but you are idle past your threshold (15–300 seconds, adjustable) Only the active tab in the focused Chrome window is counted. Background tabs, a minimized Chrome window, and a locked screen add no time. Optional setting (on by default): count audible tabs (video, music, calls) as active while you are idle. Use the report for ranges, categories, heatmap, and timeline. 5. In Settings, set idle threshold, ignores, categories, retention, theme, and backups.
