Filter images, videos, iframes, and background media with clean, temporary browsing controls. CleanWeb – A Clean, Safe Web Experience Respectful of All Faiths CleanWeb is a lightweight and fast Chrome extension that automatically detects and blurs, grayscales, or darkens inappropriate images, videos, and embedded media content that appear while browsing the internet. It does not collect any personal data and does not send any information to a server; all filtering happens entirely inside your browser, on your own device. Why CleanWeb? Today's internet has become an environment where we can unexpectedly encounter disturbing visuals even while working, doing research, or sharing a screen with our children. CleanWeb solves this problem without making decisions on the user's behalf — it simply reduces visual clutter, filtering the view until you choose otherwise. The extension does not block any website and does not "ban" any content — it only filters the image, until you decide to allow it. Suitable for Users of Every Faith and Lifestyle CleanWeb was not designed specifically for any particular religion or belief system. On the contrary, it is a universal tool that anyone who values privacy and visual modesty can comfortably use: For Jewish users: those who wish to maintain the visual modesty (tzniut) that is part of a kosher lifestyle can use it as an extra layer of control in their daily browsing. For Orthodox and other Christian users: those who value spiritual discipline and guarding the eyes can choose it to prevent unintentional exposure to certain images. For Muslim users: it offers a practical solution for those seeking a halal internet experience and who care about avoiding haram sights. Regardless of faith: it is equally useful for parents sharing a family computer, employees who want to avoid distracting content in an office setting, or anyone who simply wants a calmer, cleaner browsing experience. The extension makes no reference to any religious text, symbol, or specific rule — instead, it offers a technical solution to a universal need for "visual modesty." This makes CleanWeb one of the rare extensions that appeals not to a single community, but to all users who value their own sense of privacy. Key Features Smart Blurring: automatically blurs images and background media on a page. Grayscale and Darkening Modes: adjust filter strength to your needs, from a light blur to full darkening. Video and iFrame Filtering: broad protection that also covers embedded video players and iframe content. 60-Second Temporary Pause: quickly view legitimate content when needed by briefly pausing protection, without turning it off entirely. Per-Site Allow List: permanently add sites you trust to an "allowed" list, and remove them whenever you like. Dark Mode Support: a clean interface that's easy on the eyes. Zero Data Collection: CleanWeb does not collect, store, or share any of your usage data, browsing history, or personal information with third parties. Its privacy policy is fully transparent and publicly auditable on GitHub. Lightweight and Fast: at just 1.1MB, it has no impact on your browser's performance. Who Is It Ideal For? Parents sharing a computer with their family Individual users with religious or spiritual sensitivities (Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and others) Employees who want a clean browsing experience in a corporate/office setting Anyone pursuing a digital detox or trying to reduce distractions Families concerned about their children's screen safety Why Is It Different From Other Extensions? Many "content blocker" extensions on the market lock sites completely or use aggressive blacklists. CleanWeb works with a different philosophy: it softens rather than blocks. The user always stays in control; they can view any site or add it to their allow list at any time. This flexibility makes CleanWeb both less intrusive and far better suited to everyday use. Install CleanWeb today and protect your peace of mind while browsing the internet — with no data collected, no site fully blocked, just a cleaner visual experience.
