Control YouTube playback speed: custom speeds beyond 2x, per-context defaults, and remappable shortcuts. Take full control of how fast YouTube plays — without fighting the player. YouTube Speed Controller lets you set any playback speed on YouTube, including speeds beyond the built-in 2× limit, with one-click presets, an exact value you type in, a draggable on-screen badge, and keyboard shortcuts that never clash with YouTube's own keys. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Custom speeds beyond 2× — use presets or type an exact value, up to 10×. • Per-context defaults — separate default speeds for normal videos, Shorts, Music, and live streams. • Optional per-channel memory — "always watch this channel at X" (opt-in, stored locally). • Natural-sounding audio — voice pitch is preserved by default, so 2× doesn't sound like chipmunks. One click turns it off. • Remappable keyboard shortcuts — defaults (Alt+. faster, Alt+, slower, Alt+0 reset) avoid every native YouTube key and never fire while you're typing in search or comments. • Subtle on-screen badge — draggable, auto-hiding, remembers its position, works in theater and fullscreen, and can be turned off entirely. • Survives navigation & ads — re-applies your chosen speed when YouTube swaps the video on navigation or after an ad. It never blocks or skips ads; it simply restores your speed when your content resumes. • Native menu integration — adds beyond-2× entries to YouTube's own speed menu when possible; everything still works if it can't. PRIVATE BY DESIGN This extension collects no data. It makes no network requests and contains no remote code. Your preferences are stored locally on your device via chrome.storage and never leave your browser. It requests only the "storage" permission and access to YouTube pages — nothing else.
