Description
Type a short trigger and get the whole message. Save snippets with formatting, fill-in blanks, dates and cursor placement. Expando is a text expander: type a short trigger like ;;thanks and your full message appears in its place. Save the replies, sign-offs and templates you write every day as snippets, then call them up in a few keystrokes. Expando is built to work where others break: in email, documents, chat apps and social media post boxes, tested one editor at a time. Bold, colours, lists and links come through intact. Fill in a name or an order number as it expands, put the cursor exactly where you want it, and drop in today's date or what you just copied. Your snippets stay in your browser, sync to your other computers through Chrome, and never need an account. FEATURES • Short codes: type ;;hi, ;;sig or any code you choose and it turns into the full text • Formatting: bold, italic, underline, colours, lists and links are kept when the text goes in • Fill-in blanks: a small form asks for a name, a topic or an order number as the text goes in • Dates and times: insert today's date, the time, or a date a few days ahead, in the format you like • Clipboard: drop in whatever you last copied • Cursor placement: choose where the cursor lands after the text goes in • Search: forgot a code? Install Expando. A welcome page opens with a practice box. 2. Type one of the starter codes, such as ;;hi, and watch it expand. 3. Open Expando, click New, choose a short code and write what it should expand to. It saves as you type. 4. Type your code in any text box on the web. PRIVACY Your saved text and settings are stored in your browser. There is no account and no server holding them. If sync is on, Chrome copies them to your other computers through your own Chrome sync. Nothing you type is collected, stored or sent anywhere. Expando never runs in password fields. No ads. Once a day Expando sends anonymous counts of which features were used, so I know what to improve; never your text or the sites you visit, and you can switch it off in Settings.
