Extracts text from a local PDF file entirely in your browser and saves it as a .txt file. No external libraries, no network access. Extract text from any PDF with one click and save it to a text file. Or compare two PDF versions to see exactly what changed. The "PDF to Text Extractor & Compare" Chrome extension has two modes. Extract mode pulls the text out of a single PDF and saves it as a .txt file. Compare mode takes two PDFs, automatically extracts the text from both, and shows you a side-by-side, word-highlighted diff of what changed — line by line and word by word. Just click the extension icon and choose: • Extract & Download — pick a PDF and instantly save its text as a .txt file. • Compare — pick two PDFs (e.g. two versions of the same document); the extension extracts the text from both automatically and opens a side-by-side diff in a new tab, with jump-to-next-change navigation and a downloadable diff report. Important Notes: • Works only on PDFs that already have real text in them. A scanned page or a photo of a document has no text to extract, so it will come out empty. • Compare works on the extracted text, not the PDF's visual layout — formatting-only changes won't show up as differences. • Password-protected PDFs aren't supported.
