Export Claude.ai conversations to Markdown # Claude Chat Exporter A Chrome extension to export Claude.ai conversations to Markdown, JSON, or plain text. ## Installation 1. Open Chrome and navigate to `chrome://extensions/` 2. Enable **Developer mode** (toggle in top right) 3. Click **Load unpacked** 4. Select this folder (`claude_ext`) ## Usage 1. Navigate to any Claude.ai chat (URL like `https://claude.ai/chat/...`) 2. Click the extension icon in your Chrome toolbar 3. Choose your export options: - **Include thinking blocks** - Include Claude's extended thinking - **Include tool use details** - Include MCP tool calls and results - **Include timestamps** - Add timestamps to each message 4. Select format (Markdown, JSON, or Plain Text) 5. Click **Copy to Clipboard** or **Download File** ## Features - Exports full conversation including all messages - Optionally includes Claude's thinking process - Optionally includes tool usage details - Three output formats: Markdown, JSON, Plain Text - Works with your existing claude.ai session (no separate login) - Shows preview and file size before export ## Troubleshooting **"Please navigate to a Claude.ai chat first"** - Make sure you're on a page like `https://claude.ai/chat/xxxx-xxxx-xxxx` **"Could not determine organization ID"** - Try refreshing the Claude.ai page and reopening the extension **"Authentication failed"** - Your session may have expired. Log into claude.ai again. ## How It Works The extension uses your existing Claude.ai session cookies to call the same API that the Claude web interface uses. It fetches the full conversation data and formats it into a readable export.
