When you open a music video on YouTube or YouTube Music, the extension analyzes the available metadata and displays the best matching Discogs release directly below the video title. Features • Automatically detects songs from YouTube videos. • Finds matching Discogs releases using multiple search strategies. • Displays release artwork, label, catalog number, formats, year, community rating, and marketplace price statistics. • Shows the best match, with optional additional results. • Opens releases directly on Discogs with one click. • Supports YouTube's light and dark themes. • Works with normal YouTube navigation without requiring page reloads. • Uses local caching to reduce API requests and improve performance. Authentication A free Discogs Personal Access Token is required to access the Discogs API. The token is stored locally in Chrome Sync Storage and is only used for requests to the official Discogs API. It is never sent to any other service. Permissions storage – saves your settings (Discogs token, username, preferences) activeTab – reads information from the current YouTube page scripting – injects the Discogs panel into YouTube pages Access is limited to youtube.com, music.youtube.com, and api.discogs.com. Beta This is an early public beta. Matching accuracy continues to improve and some edge cases are still being refined.
