Text expansion productivity tool that replaces typed abbreviations with saved snippets. ShortHand is a local-first snippet manager for Chrome. Type a shortcut, press your trigger key, and ShortHand replaces the abbreviation with a saved expansion wherever you write on the web. Built for focused daily work: - Expand snippets in inputs, textareas, and contenteditable editors - Organize snippets with folders, collections, tags, favorites, pins, and recently used views - Search across names, shortcuts, expansion text, tags, folder, collection, status, and usage data - Sort by last edited, recently used, most used, pinned, created date, name, shortcut, or enabled state - Use smart variables like {{cursor}}, {{date}}, {{time}}, {{datetime}}, {{clipboard}}, and prompted fields such as {{field:Name}} - Import and export JSON, CSV, and full backups - Restore, merge, or replace libraries with validation before saving - Track local usage statistics with times used, last used, average daily uses, favorites, most-used snippets, and popup charts - Configure theme, trigger key, expansion delay, backups, and keyboard shortcuts Privacy-first by design: - No telemetry - No analytics - No ads - No remote servers - Snippets and settings use Chrome extension storage - Usage statistics and automatic backups stay local to the browser profile - Clipboard access is used only when a snippet includes the {{clipboard}} variable ShortHand ignores password, email, and URL fields, handles IME composition, and expands only the abbreviation immediately before your cursor.
