Automatically switch to a tab when it plays sound. Supports permanent per-domain rules, schedules, DND, focus sessions and profiles. Never miss a crucial update again—even if your computer is completely muted. Are you tired of hunting through dozens of open tabs to find the one that just "dinged"? SoundNotify is an intelligent productivity extension that detects background audio alerts and instantly pulls the notification tab to the front, ensuring you stay on top of what's important. Originally built to solve a massive pain point for freelancers who only have 30 seconds to claim an incoming task, SoundNotify has evolved into a powerhouse tab manager featuring Do Not Disturb timers, domain schedules, and context profiles. ✨ Key Features 1 - Instant Auto-Switching: Automatically focuses the exact tab and window where sound is detected. Save time and maintain your workflow without the distraction of hunting down the source. 2 - Silent Workspace Compatible: Prefer to work in a quiet environment? SoundNotify detects browser audio events even when your device speakers are completely muted! 3 - Advanced Domain Rules: Take total control over your chattiest websites. Set specific schedules (e.g., active 9-5 only), enforce cooldowns to prevent spam from rapid-fire chat messages, or use "Notify Only" mode for a passive desktop alert. 4 - Focus & Do Not Disturb (DND): Need to do deep work? Pause all tab switching instantly, or run a Focus Session that converts interruptions into silent desktop notifications. 5 - Profiles: Save and swap between different rule configurations (e.g., "Work Mode" vs. "Weekend Mode") instantly. 6 - Activity Log: A detailed history tracks every audio event. See exactly what triggered an alert and why SoundNotify switched to it, sent a desktop notification, or blocked it. 🧠 Smart "Rising Edge" Detection Worried about the extension constantly pulling you back to a playing YouTube video? Don't be. SoundNotify uses "rising edge" sound detection. It only reacts to the initial spike of a sound (like a notification chime). If a video or song is continuously playing in a background tab, the extension will not continuously switch back to it once you navigate away. 💼 Perfect for Freelancers & Remote Workers As a freelancer, missing a notification often means missing out on an important job. If you have a platform that only gives you 30 seconds to read and accept a task, SoundNotify ensures you don’t waste 15 of those seconds searching for the tab. It brings the work directly to you. 📌 Setup Tips Pin the Extension: We highly recommend clicking the "Puzzle" icon in Chrome and pinning SoundNotify to your toolbar! This lets you see the live badge counter for unseen logs. Custom Shortcuts: Navigate to chrome://extensions/shortcuts to define your own global keyboard shortcuts to open the extension or instantly toggle a Do Not Disturb session (e.g., Alt + Shift + D). 🔒 Privacy First Your data belongs to you. SoundNotify operates entirely locally on your device. It does not collect, store, or transmit any browsing history, telemetry, or personal data to the developer or any third-party servers.
