Built as the recording companion of the hve-video-director capture pipeline, which replays your exact steps with human pacing to film product videos; the exports also work anywhere Puppeteer-Replay JSON is understood. WHY THIS INSTEAD OF THE BUILT-IN RECORDER • Real timing: DevTools exports carry no timestamps; this records when each step happened, so a replay paces like you actually browsed. • Gestures DevTools skips: drag and drop (native and pointer-based), wheel/zoom bursts (trackpad pinch included), file-upload steps, hover on demand. • Multi-tab flows: tabs your flow opens are tracked automatically, and their steps carry the schema's target field. • Secrets never enter the file: password fields always export with an empty value; regions marked data-hve-mask export empty too; one toggle masks all typed text. ALWAYS UNDER YOUR CONTROL While recording, every armed tab shows a visible chip — "Recording — N steps · stays on this device — under your control" — with Pause, Stop, and note/marker buttons right on it. A 30-second heartbeat re-injects the capture script if it ever goes silent, and warns you either way. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION The extension contains no network code: no analytics, no telemetry, nothing transmitted, ever. Steps live in session storage until you press Download; the only output is the JSON file you save. Typing rhythm is stored as quantized intervals only, because raw keystroke timing is a biometric — and it can be disabled entirely. BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD Review the step list in the popup: delete stray steps, rename markers, name the recording. Shortcuts: Alt+Shift+H records a hover; Alt+Shift+M arms a marker.
