Interrupts YouTube binge-watching by enforcing a cooldown before another video can start. BingeBrake helps you watch YouTube with intention instead of falling into an endless autoplay spiral. HOW IT WORKS Watch a video like normal. Once you've watched enough of it (90% by default, adjustable), BingeBrake arms itself. The moment you try to open a different video — by clicking a recommendation, searching, using back/forward, refreshing, typing a URL, or even opening it in a new tab — a cooldown begins. Instead of the new video, you're shown a countdown screen. When the timer runs out, you can start exactly one more video before the cycle repeats. Nothing happens while you stay on the video you're watching. The cooldown only kicks in the instant you try to jump to another one, so BingeBrake never interrupts what's currently playing, only what comes next. FEATURES: Adjustable watch threshold: choose what percentage of a video counts as "watched enough" Adjustable cooldown length Choose whether a video counts as "finished" at the threshold or only once it fully ends Works with YouTube Shorts as well as regular videos Live stats: videos finished, videos prevented, minutes saved, and your current streak Optional passcode override for the rare time you genuinely need to skip a cooldown early Catches every way you might try to jump to a new video: recommendations, search, back/forward, refresh, typed URLs, and new tabs RECENTLY ADDED FEATURE: Adjustable video count before cooldown is triggers PRIVACY: BingeBrake doesn't collect, transmit, or sell any data. Everything — your settings, stats, and current state — stays on your device in local browser storage. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no network requests made by the extension at all.
