Local bridge for Digital Presence Desktop. Captures browser hostnames only — no content, no cloud. All data stays on your device. Digital Presence Companion is the browser bridge for Digital Presence Desktop — a local-first focus and attention tracker for Windows and macOS. HOW IT WORKS When you browse, the extension captures the hostname of each site you visit (not page content, not full URLs, not passwords or form data) and sends it to the Digital Presence Desktop app running on your machine via a local WebSocket connection on port 47821. Nothing is sent to any server. There is no cloud component. GUARDIAN MODE If you use Digital Presence in Guardian mode, block rules are pushed from the desktop app to this extension in real time. When a blocked domain is navigated to, the extension redirects to a local "Blocked" page instead of the live site. Block rules are stored locally — no sync, no cloud. WHAT IS CAPTURED · Hostname only (e.g. "github.com") — never full URLs, search terms, or page content · Path is captured for YouTube only (channel and video identification for Guardian channel blocking) · Tab focus change events — which site has your attention, not what you are reading WHAT IS NOT CAPTURED · Page content of any kind · Passwords, form inputs, or text you type · Your browsing history stored remotely · Any data sent to Rooted Reality servers REQUIREMENTS Digital Presence Desktop must be installed and running for this extension to function.
