Control YouTube playback on this computer from your phone. YouTube Remote turns your phone into a wireless remote for YouTube videos playing in this Chrome browser. HOW IT WORKS 1. Install this extension on the computer where you watch YouTube. 2. Install the YouTube Remote app on your phone (link in the extension popup). 3. Pair them once with a 6-digit code shown in the extension popup. That's it — no account, no sign-in. 4. Open any YouTube tab and use your phone to play, pause, scrub, change volume, skip ahead or back, and toggle fullscreen. WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL FROM YOUR PHONE • Play / pause • Skip forward and back 10 seconds • Next / previous video in the queue • Mute and volume up / down • Toggle fullscreen on the video player • Scrub the timeline • See what's currently playing — title, channel, and progress WHY YOU MIGHT WANT THIS • Watch YouTube on your laptop from across the couch without reaching for the trackpad. • Use your big monitor or living-room TV as a YouTube screen and your phone as the remote. • Pause quickly when someone walks in without minimizing your work. • Skip past sponsored segments without leaving the comfort of your chair. PRIVACY This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Pairing codes are random, expire quickly, and only travel between your own browser and your own phone through a thin relay. We don't see what you watch, your YouTube account, or your browsing history. See our privacy policy for details. OPEN AND MINIMAL The extension only runs on YouTube tabs. It uses Chrome's debugger API only to dispatch the fullscreen click that the YouTube Fullscreen API otherwise refuses for non-user-initiated requests; you'll see Chrome's standard yellow notice flash for a fraction of a second when you toggle fullscreen from your phone, and the connection is dropped immediately afterward.
