Cross-browser bookmark synchronization via Nextcloud WebDAV. Nextcloud Bookmark Sync is a privacy-first extension that allows you to sync your bookmarks using your own Nextcloud server via WebDAV. Say goodbye to Big Tech's cloud services. Keep your bookmarks perfectly synced across Chrome, Brave, Edge, and Firefox without your data ever leaving your control. The extension creates a dedicated "🔄 Bookmark Sync" folder right in your Bookmarks Bar for easy, isolated management. ✨ Main Features: 🔒 100% Sovereign & Private: No third-party servers, no analytics, no tracking. 🤖 Automated Background Sync: Detects local bookmark changes and automatically pushes them to your server. Pulls updates in the background based on your preferred frequency. 🗑️ Smart Archive System: Deleted bookmarks are never truly lost. They are safely moved to a "🗑️ Bookmark Archives" folder that intelligently positions itself right next to your sync folder. ♻️ Auto-Cleanup Retention: Archives are neatly organized by date. A daily background task automatically cleans up archives older than your custom retention limit (adjustable from 1 to 30 days). 🎯 Exact Ordering: The precise visual layout of your bookmarks and folders is perfectly replicated across all your devices. 🛡️ Collision Protection: Uses a lock file (.lock) via WebDAV so a device backs off instead of silently overwriting another device's in-progress sync. It's a best-effort lock with a 5-minute staleness timeout, so a crashed or offline device can never leave sync permanently blocked. ⚙️ Prerequisites: You must have a running Nextcloud instance and generate an "App Password" in your Nextcloud security settings to use with this extension (Do not use your main Nextcloud password!). 📌 Note (v1.5.0+): the extension now requests access to your Nextcloud domain only when you first click Export or Import, instead of at install time. You'll see a one-time browser permission prompt for that domain — accept it and background sync will work automatically afterwards.
